Warhammer 40K: So…Will The Other Primarchs Get Tanks, Too?
We’ve got a Leman Russ and a new Rogal Dorn tank…What about the other Warhammer 40K Primarchs?
Not that the Emperor would ever play favorites with his sons or anything but now that two of them have Astra Militarum Tanks named after them, I’m wondering if the other are just a tad bit jealous. And yeah, the Emperor probably doesn’t have much say in the matter. And also it’s the Astra Militarum and not, say, Space Marine tanks…but still. It would be quite the honor to the memory of those Primarchs to have a tank named after them, right?
I don’t need a tank. I’m still here!
So, lore reasons aside, let’s assume the other Primarchs got to become tanks. Or even just vehicles for the Astra Militarum — what types of vehicles would they be?
Lion El’Jonson – Astra Militarum Jet Bikes
The “Jonson” Jet Bike has a nice ring to it! Also, did you even know that the Imperial Guard had Jet Bikes back in the day?! The would be one heck of a call back.
Jaghatai Khan – Valkyrie / New Flyer
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. “Why wouldn’t you make this a biker unit — it’s the White Scar’s thing!” And yeah. I get that. But bikes ARE a White Scars thing. The Astra Militarum aren’t White Scars. At best, they are like the hunting falcons that the White Scars use. So let the Astra Militarum be the “eyes in the sky” for the Hunting Packs of White Scars with a new type of Flyer.
The bird is the Astra Militarum in this scenario.
Sanguinius – ???
So here’s the thing about a vehicle named after Sanguinius. We need something that fits in with the theme of the Blood Angels. They are really good artisans. They are also Space Vampires and get pretty bloodthirsty. They also have the Black Rage — but that’s not exactly common knowledge outside of the Blood Angel’s and their successors. So that’s out right along the idea of Space Vampires. That leaves really good artisans.
It could just be a Baneblade variant called the Sanguinator or something. But what if the name was more about the idea of Blood and/or healing? Like a battlefield medicae unit. Or maybe we just go with a Hellhound variant that shoots blood or something grimdark. I’m open to suggestions on this one, folks.
Ferrus Manus – New Chimera called ‘The Gorgon’
Wait, what do you mean that’s already a thing!? Does Forge World count? What about an artillery piece called the Medusa — also in honor of the Iron Hand’s nod to classical Greek mythology?
Dang it Forge World! Stop having ideas from years ago that are what we’re trying to come up with now. Fine. You know what, Ferrus Manus doesn’t get a new vehicle.
Vulkan – New Hellhound
It’s the flame-spewing tank. C’mon. This one just writes itself.
Corvus Corax – New Cyclops Demolition Vehicle
Think about it. It’s stealthy and self-destructive. Nothing else would be more emo than sneaking up to the enemy and detonating which is why a Corax Demolition Vehicle would be perfect.
What if Guilliman just uses this opportunity to troll his brothers…
This was not the return of Loyalist Primarchs we were hoping for.
