‘Warhammer: The Old World’ – 3 Factions I Want to See Next
More previews are out, and the Old World is shaping to be excellent. Here’s what I’m hoping we see soon.
The Old World is still a long way out, but already it’s looking to be incredible. We saw Cathay, Kislev, and the Wood Elves before, and now they’re joined by a few more. The Knightly Orders of Bretonnia, the ancient might of the Tomb Kings, and the savage Orcs of the mountains have marched into the fray with some gorgeous art. As a long-time fan of Warhammer Fantasy (and a Tomb Kings player for quite a while), I’m super stoked for all the previews. However, I can’t help but think something’s missing. I know more previews are on the way, and there are a few factions I’m hoping show up soon.
Skaven
The true unseen villains of Fantasy, the OG Skaven were a powerful force that had their claws in almost every major world event. It’s believed that the Skaven could sweep the surface world in a tide of fangs and blades if they could stop all the in-fighting. I’d love to see a return to the classic Skaven I loved back in the day and maybe a more robust clan system that doesn’t limit choice as much.
Vampire Counts
As cool as the Soulblighted are, they really have nothing on the original Blood Lords. I miss the days of super customizable vampires, where you could build them from the ground up as a warrior, a spellcaster, or something in the middle. I’m interested to see how the new edition will handle the haunted lands of Sylvania and how the new vampires will look. Plus, maybe the return of the real Strigoi.
Dark Elves
Probably my favorite faction in the Old World (though Skaven gives them a run for their money), the Dark Elves were an integral part of Old World lore, and I hope to see them back. Specifically, I want to see the return of all the heroes I loved: Malus, Kouran, and of course, Malekith. Since we haven’t seen much of the Frozen Lands yet, there’s no telling what monstrosities could pop up.
What are you looking forward to?
