This padlock is keeping the Rumor Engine locked down. Can we pick this lock and get at the juicy model?

It’s Tuesday once again which means an new and exciting Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Today, we have an interestingly mysterious image. It’s a lock with no key in sight…

“We’re continuing to dig through this Rumour Engine diary.

Day 119: It’s definitely getting weird around here. Some of the interns have started wearing robes. They whisper in huddled circles about promises of power from the future. I managed to confiscate an image they’d pulled from the machine. What could it mean?” “

I’m still not too sure about the “meta story” going on. Perhaps we’ll talk about that some other time. For now, let’s look at this image and see what we can see. It’s a lock for sure. And what, exactly, is this lock securing? That’s the real question. The image behind it has a bolt and nut all tightened in. There is certainly more going on that we can’t really see.

Anyhow locks like that remind me of the Nighthaunt army. They have quite a few models with locks on them:

That said, I don’t think that this particular lock has anything to do with the Nighthaunt from Age of Sigmar. And honestly, I’m a bit at a loss. This one is a weird image at a jaunty angle that really isn’t giving us much to work with. I don’t think it’s Xenos technology. It could be Imperial. At the same time it’s a pretty archaic way to secure something for the 40k universe.

Could this one be from the Mortal Realms or the Grimdark? If we could solve that we could at least go through a process of elimination. But I’ll leave that to you in the comments! If you’ve got theories about this strange Rumor Engine drop us a line and let us know what it could be.

Do you think this lock is keeping everyone out… or keeping something in?
