The conclusion of His Dark Materials arrives next month. Forces gather for a final battle, and the fate of the worlds hangs in the balance.

Based on Philip Pullman’s fantasy trilogy, the series is coming to a close next month. The story centers around Lyra, a girl who seems ordinary but is anything but. She is a prophesied child that wields a knife that can cut through the fabric between different universes. She has to travel through multiple universes to liberate her world from the grip of the powerful Magisterium, a religious organization that aims to control all knowledge (and the populace).

There is a curious prophecy about her: she is destined to bring about the end of destiny. But she must do so without knowing what she is doing as if it were her nature and not her destiny to do it. If she’s told what she must do, it will all fail. Death will sweep through all the worlds. It will be the triumph of despair, forever. The universes will all become nothing more than interlocking machines, blind and empty of thought, feeling, life.

– Serafina Pekkala, Northern Lights

The Magisterium is willing to destroy or kill anything in their way. That includes Lyra and her compatriots, who can change everything.

New His Dark Materials Trailer

If you haven’t been watching, you have time to catch up before the third season drops. The first two seasons are available on HBOMax and BBC iPlayer now. If you enjoyed the books – this is a great adaptation, much better than the 2007 movie that failed before the latter. The third season wraps up the trilogy. The final trailer teases the conclusion of Lyra’s emotional journey, as well as some action-packed sequences and big battles.
