Warhammer 40K: More Major Rules Updates Revealed
Your favorite units are getting even better in the new Astra Militarum book. Death Korps, Sly Marbo, and more previews ahead!
The Astra Militarum Army Set is coming soon and that means a new codex in the box. That also means new rules and updates for the mighty Imperial Guard of the Imperium. Today, we’re getting a few more teasers from the codex about some fan favorites. Let’s dive right in an see what’s coming for the Death Korps, Sly Marbo, and more!
“The Death Korps of Krieg and Catachan Jungle Fighters are both getting their own individual datasheets in the new book. Krieg troopers have access to the many options included in their Kill Team kit – such as sniper rifles and medi-packs – while Catachans boast two flamers and a particularly vicious close combat ability.”
First up we have a look at the updated Death Korps of Krieg. These resolute guardsmen won’t go down without your opponent rolling at least a 3+ even if their weapon profile says otherwise! That’s right even if they take a direct shot from a lascannon they still have a 33% chance to just ignore that shot (ya know, if your opponent rolls a 1 or 2).
The classic Jungle Fighter are back and are known for their ability to brawl. Each melee attack that rolls an unmodified 6 scores an additional hit! That’s a nice little extra boost. But what about the most (in)famous Jungle Fighter from Catachan of them all?
“The sneaky, stabby sensation known as Sly Marbo also returns to battle, with a significant bump in threat level. His ripper pistol and envenomed blade can now drop Chaos Space Marines and enemy commanders with ease, before Sly slips back into the shadows like he was never there at all. “
Yeah…I’m not sure why an Astra Militarum player wouldn’t include Sly in a list. He can pick-off an enemy commander who gets too close and he can go toe-to-toe with a Marine even with their 2 wounds. Seriously, get this guy in there and let him do work.
Hey, remember yesterday how we saw the mention of the Prefectus Orders? Well now we know what those are, too. Commissars have access to this new type of Order that they can issue. And I don’t even think they need to execute a trooper to get the point across now.
Well, that’s a nice change. I guess the Commissars had one too many HR complaints filed and they all had to go back to an effective management seminar or something. I guess the Ork Nobs are up next — “no, you can’t bonk your underlings to get them to follow orders anymore.”
Anyhow, let’s look at a weapon system that got an update. Everyone loves a good ol’ Deathstrike missile, right?
Fun fact, they get the option to redirect their fire now, too:
“If your turn comes around and nobody’s in the blast zone, you can just move the marker again.”
If you want to play the objective denial game you totally can with this warhead — but there’s also the other two options to consider, too. Pick the right tool for the right job!
