Warhammer Preview Online: Grand Narrative Edition Predictions
Games Workshop is hosting another Warhammer Preview this time at the Grand Narrative. What are we hoping to see? Here’s a few predictions.
If you didn’t know there’s a Warhammer Preview Online coming this weekend, kicking on late Friday or early Saturday depending on where you’re located. We also know the main topics of this preview as well.
“New Miniatures, New Rules, and More”
“The US Open 2022 Grand Narrative Finale is taking place in New Mexico this weekend. It’s a celebratory capstone for this year’s Warhammer Open series – so we’ll be covering the event on the Warhammer Twitch Channel as it happens, including a Warhammer Preview with something for all Warhammer fans.”
There are four main topics that the Preview will be touching on as seen in the image above. So what do we think they are going to be talking about for each? Let’s get into them!
Warhammer: Age of Sigmar
With the Slaves to Darkness Army box already “out” GW has basically shown off all the new plastic units from that Battletome. There might be a newer Chaos Lord on mount kit that has been spotted — but I don’t think we’ll see any more big news regarding the Slaves to Darkness directly. This is also the end of the AoS Roadmap that we had.
We already speculated a bit about what’s next. But here’s a quick rundown of what’s still on deck for AoS:
Yet-To-Be Announced Battletomes
Order
- Cities of Sigmar/Dawnbringer Crusades
- Kharadron Overlords
- Seraphon
Chaos
- Beasts of Chaos
- Hedonites of Slaanesh
- Blades of Khorne
Death
- Flesh-Eater Courts
- Ossiarch Bonereapers
- Soulblight Gravelords
Destruction
- Gloomspite Gitz
Personally, I think that the Dawnbringer Crusades are going to be the “big new army” for AoS next year. But, based on how the Sisters of Battle and Leagues of Votann teasers rolled out, we might not see that army for close to a year. So I don’t expect anything more that some teaser images from the Dawnbringer Crusades.
So what are we actually expecting to see? Well, the next Battletome announcements! Maybe another battlebox pairing or two? Those seems to be the new model that GW is shifting to for releases and they do hype up both armies. There’s also something brewing in on the narrative side of things. We might get an announcement about a Season of War or something like that, too.
Warhammer: Underworlds
This is the most recent roadmap for Underworlds. It sure looks like there’s a Gitz/Bad Moon Warband coming in December. I wouldn’t be a super long stretch to assume that’s what we’re going to be seeing previews of this weekend. It would be a little awkward if GW just showed off the Fearsome Fortress Rivals Deck cards. They might show of the box art but I doubt we’ll get a card-by-card run down.
Necromunda
Necromunda is in a very exciting place, narratively speaking. The story of the planet is actually advancing. There’s power plays and plots happening all over the place. After the events of Ciderack Burning The planet is basically in a state of civil war. Not to mention the fact that the turf wars are going off road in some big ways…
We still have a handful of Gangs/Houses that don’t have vehicles yet. I’d expect to see at least one of those gangs get a vehicle announcement. I can’t wait to see what GW has come up with for them. Furthermore, we will probably get a new book announcement for the series, too — gotta have a place to put those new vehicle rules, right?
This was also the last teaser roadmap we’ve seen for Necromunda, too. It’s plenty vague — but I think we’ve crested past all those “announced” books by now. We’ve also gotten quite a few new models at this point, too. Here’s hoping for some sweet new reveals (and maybe an updated roadmap) this weekend.
Warhammer: 40,000
And now the big one…what will Games Workshop be showing off for 40k? Well, it’s gotta be World Eaters, right?!
Every other army has gotten a 9th Edition Codex. The World Eater have been teased and taunted. We even got a (possibly fake) leak of the points from the upcoming codex. There’s some supposed “new units” in the mix from that list. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the World Eaters get a few more models added to their range so that’s not really that much of a stretch.
I think this 40k reveal is going to be the big one for the World Eaters. The timing checks out. Either that or Games Workshop is going to go hard with some Arks of Omen reveals. That’s the only other “major” thing happening for 40k at the moment now that Cadia has their army box, too.
What the heck is that three-headed robot monster?
Well, those are a few predictions — what do you think we’ll see this weekend from Games Workshop?
