D&D: Five Spells For Finals Week
It’s finals week and that means it’s time to bring on the caffeine and look for anything to help—these five spells might help you cram.
Adventurers have to face all kinds of challenges. From dragon lords and archmages to liches who hunger for souls. But you know what? They’ve never had to come to grips with the fact that they’ve had three months to finish a major assignment. And now, two days before it’s due, they’re finally ready to begin. Unless you’re playing in a wizard school type of game, in which case, just remember to reach for one of these five spells.
Illusory Script
This spell can be surprisingly useful if you need to finish an essay in a hurry. If those Silverquill professors have you in a bind, Illusory Script has a potent benefit:
To you and any creatures you designate when you cast the spell, the writing appears normal, written in your hand, and conveys whatever meaning you intended when you wrote the text. To all others, the writing appears as if it were written in an unknown or magical script that is unintelligible. Alternatively, you can cause the writing to appear to be an entirely different message, written in a different hand and language, though the language must be one you know.
What is an essay, after all, if not a long message? Just use magic to make an illusory version of your final paper appear in place of whatever actual message you’ve written. Of course, you’ll still have to actually write the original message and the spell only lasts for 10 days, so you’ll want to be careful with the timing.
Greater Restoration
This spell is a godsend for anyone pulling an all-nighter. Greater Restoration is perfect for curing what ails you–and it’s the only spell in the game that can remove a level of exhaustion. Perfect for when you haven’t gotten a full night’s sleep in days.
Conjure Elemental (Fire)
Homework is often done on paper, and paper is famously flammable. You can extend your deadline by handing in a stack of hastily scrawled papers and then summoning a fire elemental right next to your homework. It’s not your fault those papers caught fire, you’re bound to have an extension!
Planar Ally
When you cast this spell you beseech an otherworldly entity for aid. Be it a god, a demon, a primordial, a demon prince, or some other being of cosmic power, so long as it is a being known to you.
This cosmic power sends an entity loyal to it, such as a demon or angel, to appear before you to consider your request. With the appropriate payment, your new celestial/fiendish ally will carry out one task you specify – so try and figure out what an angel might want to finish the work you’ve left undone.
Wish
Finally, you can try the most powerful spell known to mortals. Wish is the ability to reshape reality to suit one whim. Of course, if you cast it to accomplish something other than a very narrow set of restrictions there’s a risk you might never be able to cast this spell again. But that seems a small price to pay to instantaneously have already finished your assignments.
Happy adventuring!
