Final ‘Witcher: Blood Origin’ Trailer Reveals a Familiar Bard
The final Witcher: Blood Origin trailer reveals more about the violent story of rebellion and monsters. Plus a direct tie to the main series.
The final look at Blood Origin includes battles, monsters, and travel through portals as the spheres get closer together. The elves are in a golden age, but it’s not a time of peace. A regime that aims to rule at all costs is playing with powers they can’t control. Powers that are opening up their lands to deadly creatures and merging them with new universes. Someone has to fight back against both threats. Enter a group of warriors…
Yep, that’s Jaskier (Joey Batey), his lute, and a shape-shifting storyteller that can travel between worlds and time. It seems Seanchaí (Minnie Driver) has brought him through a portal to make sure the story of the spheres is told during Geralt’s timeline. What Jaskier is being asked to do is more than write a song. It’s ensuring history isn’t forgotten during a time that needs its lessons.
Joey Batey told comicbook.com about his role in the prequel and how it carries to The Witcher S3:
“He’s very much the bookend and the vessel. The amphora through which this story is being told, and that’s pretty much all he is. I think he does take the weight of this story and the wonderful performances. [He takes] all the artistry that’s been thrown into this show and carries the weight… into season three. This is not the first time we’ve seen the Elven people oppressed. And it is about time that someone tries to shape the narrative of that within the continent and try and do some good with this story. So yeah, there might be a little bit of a continuation of it in season three.”
The Witcher: Blood Origin Cast & Details
Michelle Yeoh leads the cast, which includes Lenny Henry, Dylan Moran, Zach Wyatt, Jacob Collins-Levy, Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Francesca Mills, Nathaniel Curtis, and Aidan O’Callaghan, among others. Set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a tale lost to history. The creation of the first prototype Witcher and the events that led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
