With 2023 right around the corner, we can’t stop thinking about all the cool fantasy shows coming out next year.

2022 is almost over. We’ve got just a couple of weeks left in the year and pretty much everything that has come out this year is out. That means it’s time to look ahead to next year, to 2023. There are a whole host of new and returning fantasy shows hitting screens in the coming months. While it might not quite match the excitement of both LoTR and GoT dropping major shows in 2022, there is still a lot to look forward to.

The Wheel Of Time Returns in 2023

The Wheel of Time is returning for its second season in 2023. The first season was a bit of a mess, with some real highs, and a lot of lows. Still, we are all hoping that season 2 can redeem the show and make it worthy of its source material. Covid caused a lot of issues for the first season, so hopefully, with that mostly out of the way, we will get to see something special (and see Amazon really hit it out of the park with a fantasy show). Overall it’s a fantasy show we are really looking forward to in 2023.

Cavill’s Last Ride as the Witcher

The third season of the Witcher is hitting Netflix next year. We’re big fans of the first two seasons and the books as well. While the show hasn’t always stuck to the books, its a fun ride and packed with some great characters. It’s also got some surprisingly good songs. Sadly show lead Henry Cavill will be departing after this season, making this a bittersweet return.

We’re Really Looking Forward to Avatar: The Last Airbender

2023 should see the release of Netflix’s new Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action show. Some people defiantly have mixed feelings about this show. The animated version is already pretty much perfect. And you might ask, why mess with perfection? On top of that, a live-action version has been tried before… and it didn’t go well. However, this version seems to be doing a lot of things better and is getting some real hype. Overall we are looking forward to seeing this come out in 2023. Hopefully, it lives up to our expectations.

Ragnarok Season 3

Netflix’s Ragnarok is a bit of a hidden gem. This modern take on classic Norse mythology snuck under a lot of radars but has gotten 2seasons, with a 3rd coming out next year. The show doesn’t so much reimage mythology, as continue it into the modern day.  As a Norwegian show, it takes some different approaches to how American lead shows often deal with myths and is a nice breath of fresh air. Think Smallville but Norse. It’s a fun show and we are looking forward to it in 2023.

Wednesday Season 2?

OK, this one is a bit of a stretch. We all really liked Wednesday on Netflix. The show was fun, and pretty and had a lot going for it. Sure it had some issues and was maybe a tad overcomplicated, but it was fun and the performances were spot on. We’d love more and look forward to seeing it come back in 2023. The only hitch here is that we don’t know if it will. The show has not yet been approved for season 2. Even if it does get one (which it would be mad if it didn’t) we don’t know if that would come out in 2023 or if we’d have to wait till 2024. Still, let’s be hopeful, maybe we will get it in late 2023, that’s something to look forward to.
