Henry Cavill’s Next Move is a Warhammer 40K Series for Amazon
It’s been a week for Henry Cavill – and it looks like things are finally going in a positive direction for him and 40k fans.
Cavill may be hanging up the cape and putting away his Geralt wig, but that doesn’t mean the actor doesn’t have prospects. Hollywood Reporter dropped the good news:
Amazon is in final talks for the rights to the game, produced by Games Workshop, after months of negotiations and fending off rival companies that also sought the rights. No writers or showrunners are attached, although Vertigo Entertainment is attached to also executive produce… But it is an ambitious move for Amazon and could deliver a show that is epic in scale as it combines the big genre elements of sci-fi and fantasy as well as a host of human and non-human characters.
It’s finally time.
Back in 2019, it was announced that GW teamed up with Big Light Productions to create a live-action series with Golden Globe winner Frank Spotnitz (Man in the High Castle, X-Files, Millennium) at the helm. That one didn’t come to fruition, so let’s hope this one does.
Who Should Henry Cavill Play?
No idea what or who in the vast grim dark universe this will entail. There’s been a call for the actor to play Gregor Eisenhorn for several years (though he was not on the list in 2019). The adventures of the Inquisitor would be an easy entry point into the universe for folks that are unfamiliar. He’s also a fan favorite. Win/win?
What part of the galaxy would you like to see Cavill in? I’ve seen a lot of requests for Eisenhorn and Gaunt’s Ghosts. He is an unashamed golden boys fan, so something close to the Custodes might be his speed. What do you think?
Would he make the perfect Eisenhorn, or do you want to see him play someone else?
Update 11/16/22: Cavill and Games Workshop have released statements that confirm the deal.
