Hoist the Jolly Roger, ‘Our Flag Means Death’ Season 2 Filming Has Wrapped
Filming has wrapped on the highly-anticipated season two of the whimsical historical fiction about Blackbeard and the Gentleman Pirate. 🏴☠️
Ahoy there! Fans of the feels-comedy rejoice! The HBO Max show about a high-born gentleman who hires a misfit crew of pirates to sail the seas has wrapped its second season of filming. Our Flag Means Death season 1 was met with fervent adoration from fans online, who were quickly demanding its renewal. It was a nail-biter for fans, despite the news that the series was renewed back in June.
Our Flag Means Death Star Confirms It’s a Wrap
One of the show’s most charming aspects is its cast characters, both in front of and away from the cameras. The show quickly wooed fans, who Tweeted in droves at the cast and series creator David Jenkins. Cast members like Nathan Foad, Con O’Neill, and star Rhys Darby were more than happy to interact with fans, answering questions and posting memes and jokes showing love for their characters and the story they were telling.
Vico Ortiz, who plays Jim in the show, has also posted plenty of content of their adventures around the set of the show. Now, the actor who plays the citrus-indulgent chef Roach (Samba Schutte) has confirmed through his Instagram stories that the second season filming has wrapped. The news is certainly relieving for those of us watching HBO’s latest business moves and gritting our teeth.
Warner Discovery Had Us Concerned
As Warner Bros. and Discovery networks merged, new WBD CEO David Zaslav made some drastic programming cuts to several projects. The entertainment industry has been effectively shook – and the news of cuts hasn’t stopped yet. For a while there, every day that didn’t remind me that OFMD was still filming had me a little uneasy. But even Zaslav wouldn’t be rash enough to cut a show starring superstar director and all-around internet Dad Taika Waititi.
As for the next sure sign that the ship is sailing ahead, we’re still waiting on a release date for the show. All we can do is wish the film editors a strong wind and clear skies. The gay pirate show is returning! We’re not marooned.
