Loki, Mando, and ‘Secret Invasion’ Highlighted in Disney+ 2023 Preview
Next year is packed with new stories from Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar – take a look at what’s coming to Disney+ in 2023!
Star Wars
The Bad Batch S2 (January 4) – The Bad Batch and Omega have to navigate a galaxy under the rule of Emperor Palpatine. They have to contend with their choices in a time when the choice is removed in favor of order and control. You can check out the first trailer here.
The Mandalorian S3 (March 1) – The footage is pulled from the first trailer that dropped at D23. The season picks up after their appearance in The Book of Boba Fett – the Clan of Two travels to Mandalore so Din can atone for removing his helmet. Based on the footage released, the trip becomes much more than that.
Ahsoka (TBA) – Rosario Dawson returns in this new series, which Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are leading. She and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) will be on a rescue mission to find Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). Other cast members include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Hayden Christensen as Anakin, plus Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno. A date hasn’t been announced, but it’ll likely be after Mando S3.
Marvel
Loki S2 (TBA) – This is the first footage from the new season. Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius are back doing… things. The synopsis is still under wraps, but expect more universe-ending danger, time travel, and some fabulous tuxedos. Maybe we’ll get a full trailer next month. Cross your fingers.
Secret Invasion (TBA) – The six-episode show includes new and familiar faces – both Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos are back. The story comes from the Secret Invasion comics cross-over storyline led by Brian Michael Bendis that involves shape-shifting Skrulls. It’s going to be interesting to see if this becomes a cross-over event with the show and the movies in Phase Four. Marvel has announced titles with a clear link to the Skrulls and Marvel Space. SWORD (thanks to Wandavision) and SHIELD are also in play. The show has a trailer; you can check that out here.
Disney & Pixar
Stories for every age are also on their way. There are a bunch of Pixar projects coming to Disney+ next year. We join Mike and Sully in another season of Monsters at Work, follow the pup from Up! on a new adventure in a Dug Days short, and get to watch a middle school softball team play their way to the finals in Win or Lose. New live-action shows include American Born Chinese (based on graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang), Peter Pan & Wendy (an expansion of J. M. Barrie’s books), and Crater (a sci-fi adventure from Kyle Patrick Alvarez).
