‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Leaked Photos – All the Clues & Hints We Could Find
A few images from The Acolyte leaked to Twitter a few days ago. But who are we looking at exactly and what could it mean?
Last week pictures from the set of The Acolyte leaked. These first photos of Lee Jung-jae in his Jedi garb look pretty great. But we’ve seen a lot of the Jedi throughout the galaxy and The Acolyte is supposed to be something a little different. So what could we be looking at and what hints might it have for the future of the Star Wars streaming shows?

One of the next upcoming streaming series to come to us from the galaxy far far away is The Acolyte. And this long-awaited show has recently begun filming along with season two of Andor. It looks like next year is going to be a good year for Star Wars fans.
The leaked photos have decent quality and look good, but the content is pretty simple. We see Lee Jung-jae who, if his costume is any indication, will be playing a Jedi. It looks like he’s sneaking around the forest, perhaps to hide from a pursuer or perhaps to keep a low profile while perusing. And with his light brown tunic and classic throw-on-the-ground-at-first-hint-of-a-battle Jedi cloak, it’s looking like Jung-jae is decidedly on the Light Side of the force.
My guess is that Jung-jae will be the Jedi Master referenced in Disney’s official series description and we’re seeing a quick glance at him mid-investigation.
But The Acolyte is supposed to be a show focused on a Sith. When a Star Wars story focuses on a force user leaving the Jedi Order in preference of the Sith – or even in preference of nothing at all – it never paints the Jedi in a complimentary light. And often rightfully so.
So in the case of The Acolyte, is this Jedi going to be one of the series’ antagonists despite being a Jedi and therefore on the “light” side of things? Often Sith are treated as evil and bad guys by default. But there is a deep vein of underutilized Star Wars lore behind the Sith that this show can begin tapping into.
About The Acolyte
Taking place about a century before The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte will be a story from the days of a slightly older Jedi order with a slightly darker spin The official description from Disney is,
“A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
For the most part, the details of this show are still being kept under wraps. But we do know that the cast will have quite a bit of star power. Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games, Sleepy Hollow) will play the lead character in this show alongside Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones). But perhaps two of the biggest names are the Emmy Award Winning star of Squid Games, Lee Jung-jae and Carrie-Anne Moss who we all know from The Matrix.
We don’t expect to hear too much more detail about this show until closer to its release date. And at this point that is only known to be sometime in 2023. But we will have our eyes and ears open for any and all Acolyte news in the meantime.
