‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Official Trailer is Here and Cal Kestis Returns
We knew it was coming but we’re still excited; the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor official trailer is here. And it looks awesome.
Earlier this weekend Steam leaked a bit of information about the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor game including art and the game’s release date. Today we have the full, official trailer. And it looks awesome.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
We knew that the trailer was coming this weekend at the latest, but for some reason, it was still an exciting little surprise to see it pop up yesterday.
Taking place five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this game will continue Cal Kestits’ story. As a youngster, he managed to survive Order 66 and after years of keeping under the radar, he managed to live long enough to find himself a new Jedi Master and continue his training as a Padawan. But now Cal is a fully realized Jedi in a galaxy run by the Empire.
The previous game’s antagonists were mainly Siths and especially Inquisitors with a special appearance from Darth Vader himself. But as for Survivor, fans are still speculating a little bit. Though, giving a similar spot in the timeline as streaming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, Inquisitors and Sith seem like a safe guess.
It can be a bit hard to tell from the trailer, but gameplay and style looks like it will be by and large the same as the previous game. But with a few key upgrades, of course. It has been three and a half years, after all.
The game’s summary on Steam describes Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as:
“This narratively driven, single-player title picks up 5 years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and follows Cal’s increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness. Pushed to the edges of the galaxy by the Empire, Cal will find himself surrounded by threats new and familiar. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Cal is driven to make a stand during the galaxy’s darkest times – but how far is he willing to go to protect himself, his crew, and the legacy of the Jedi Order?”
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. And instead of a March 16th release, the trailer clarifies that the game will actually be available on March 17th, 2023.
If that’s not enough of Cal’s story for you, you can also catch up with him on March 7th when the novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars hits shelves. The story is being written by Sam Maggs (Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins – Jester Lavorre, The Unstoppable Wasp: Built on Hope, and Call of Duty: Vanguard.) Battle Scars will follow Cal Kestis and the rest of the crew of the Stinger Mantis during an adventure set between the events of Fallen Order and Survivor.
