Five Crossovers in ‘Fall Guys’ We’d Like to See in ‘Fortnite’
Fortnite is the king of crossover skins with Fall Guys as a close second – but Fortnite could learn a thing or two from Fall Guys.
Fortnite had humble beginnings as a zombie survival shooter where you built things to hold off zombie attacks. The game initially received mixed reviews, and it didn’t become a phenomenon until Epic decided to make it a Battle-Royale-style game. The play mode had become a popular genre thanks to Players Unknown Battlegrounds leading the charge.
After the Battle Royale mode became a massive hit, the game started getting crossovers from major properties like Marvel, Disney, Netflix, and even John Wick. The collaborations came in the form of skins, weapons, and modes. The game started to look like what happens when you give every toy in a toy box a gun. Since then, the game has grown considerably.
Fall Guys is also a game that uses the Battle Royale idea but takes it in a different direction. Inspired more by gameshows like Takeshi’s Castle and Wipeout, it’s a series of minigames that the player has to finish before the others to keep from being eliminated. Epic eventually got the publishing rights for this game series from Devolver Digital, so the two games have a lot in common. Once Fall Guys gained popularity, the game also started to get crossovers. It has multiple skins that Fortnite uses – but it also has plenty of properties Fortnite doesn’t have.
So here are the skins we think Fortnite should get.
5. Star Trek
Gene Roddenberry’s long-running series is mostly about the voyages of starships – like the famous Enterprise – exploring different worlds. The sci-fi classic is all about encountering friendly and hostile races across space. The series has been around for decades, and there’s no shortage of people who want to go where no one has gone before. Fall Guys released sever Star Trek skins including Lt. Uhura, Spock, Worf, and a wearable USS Enterprise for their backs.
Can you picture Star Trek in Fortnite? Picard, Kirk, Sisko, Janeway, Riker, the whole crew running around with emotes checking the area?! It would be worth it just to fight every Star Wars character you can find, re-igniting the long feud between Trek fans and Wars fans. And there’s virtually no end to uniform styles and what you could add emote-wise.
4. Invincible
Invincible is a comic book created by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. The comic follows high-school-age Mark, who inherits powers from his alien father and becomes a superhero. It’s a fairly straightforward story until a twist rocks Mark’s whole identity, forcing him to step up to protect the Earth from all sorts of things.
The comic series actually ended back in 2018 with 144 issues – but not before crossovers with Spider-Man and The Tick. But Invincible saw a resurgence in popularity thanks to the premiere of its Amazon Prime animated series. I highly recommend it; the show is an incredibly faithful adaptation that still adjusts some of the moments in the book that did not age as well.
Fortnite has gotten some stuff based on Kirkman’s The Walking Dead TV show. The game offers Rick, Daryl, and Michonne skins and weapons. But Fall Guys beat Fortnite to the punch just within the past week thanks to the release of Invincible, Atom Eve, and OmniMan skins.
3. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie that many people gravitated to because it was a different kind of Christmas story. Directed by Henry Sellick and dreamed up and produced by Tim Burton, it follows the story of Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween Town, who decides he wants to try out giving the world Christmas instead of Halloween.
Fortnite recently offered Christmas-themed emotes and outfits, but Fall Guys players got to enjoy adorable skins of Jack, Santa Jack, Sally, and the Mayor of Halloween Town.
Honestly, I’m surprised this one never got to Fortnite due to its darker sense of humor. I can picture Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie emotes and dances as well as a reindeer skeleton glider.
2. Masters of the Universe
Masters of the Universe was a toy line that was created with the idea of giant muscles on EVERYTHING. It eventually spawned the popular shows He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra. The series had a resurgence in modern times thanks to memes, with Prince Adam singing a techno version of “What’s up?” and Skeletor memes galore.
It’s a little surprising that Masters of the Universe isn’t a Fortnite crossover yet. The Kevin Smith show was released not that long ago and it has a much darker tone. Meanwhile, Fall Guys released a skin for Battlecat, Orko, Teela, He-Man, and Skeletor with a Prince Adam hair that you could equip to any skin as well.
I can just picture an “I have the POWER” emote, a rideable Battlecat, Power Sword, or Havoc Staff pickaxe. There are so many different styles you could do with so many of the characters. Give me a Prince Adam that can turn into He-Man. It would be incredibly cool and I would absolutely love it.
1. Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a long, long-running series on the BBC a Time Lord called The Doctor who travels through time and space. The Doctor also regenerates into another face, allowing several actors to give the role their own style. Fall Guys did a release that involved the 4th Doctor, the 13th Doctor, and a Dalek originally, but after beloved actor David Tennant returned to the series, they released a 14th Doctor skin, too.
This one is also a no-brainer. Plenty of items could be an emote like the Sonic Screwdriver, a Tardis glider, or any of the 14 different Doctors. The money would print itself, really, and would be absolutely fascinating to see an entire battleground of Time Lords.
There are plenty more that Fall Guys has done that Fortnite hasn’t and vice versa. Let us know in the comments what you would like to see appear in Fortnite and Fall Guys next!
Winner, winner. Chicken Dinner.
