Magic the Gathering: Completed Planeswalkers and More I Hope We See

New Phyrexia has a vast wealth of possible return acts; I hope they don’t stop at planeswalkers.

More leaks and spoilers for the brand-new set Phyrexia: All Will Be One have dropped. With the confirmation of three completed planeswalkers, it looks like Elesh Norn is choosing her targets carefully. If we assume she is grabbing a planeswalker for each primary color (except red since Urabrask has been naughty), then that might be all we see. Of course, I don’t buy that Norn would give up any advantage, even if it upset the synergy. Besides, there are so many characters we could still see on New Phyrexia; I just hope we get a couple more familiar faces.

Unfortunately, the pics we’ve seen don’t give us a great look at their loyalty abilities. Tune in later when we get some clearer pics!

Confirmed: Nissa, Ascended Animist

Admittedly, I’m surprised about this one. Nissa has such a strong natural connection, so it would seem that completing her would be extremely difficult to do. Then again, most of her strength is drawn from Zendikar itself, so it’s possible that the metallic plane of New Phyrexia is weakening her. Nissa is one of my favorites, so losing her to the Phyrexians after losing Ajani is a blow. On the other hand, I love the Phyrexians as villains, so having two of my favorite walkers on their side is pretty cool.

Vraska, Betrayal’s Sting (Confirmed)

Villains will be villains, I suppose, and Vraska has all the things Elesh Norn wants; ambition, skill, and cunning. She is the perfect candidate for the new Black-aligned planeswalker, and I can’t wait to see more about her. This could spell trouble for the realms if she takes the oil back to Ravnica and infects the other Guild leaders. I don’t know about you, but a completed Living Guildpact Niv-Mizzet seems bad to me. Speaking of Living Guildpacts…

Jace, the Perfected Mind (Confirmed)

So this one I saw coming, because Jace was the perfect candidate for completion. Confident, intelligent, and no small bit of arrogance, Jace is exactly the sort to get himself mechanized quickly and completely. Of course, knowing just how sharp he is, Jace may have planned for this, hoping to get closer to the central Phyrexian consciousness to figure out a way to tear them down from within. While I respect that, I admittedly hope it fails, and that Jace finally meets a mind he can’t outwit in either Jin-Gitaxis or Elesh Norn herself. Still, getting the master of manipulation on your side isn’t great for the heroes, so what happens next is anyone’s guess.

While they haven’t been officially confirmed, these are a few Mirrodin characters that I hope make a comeback

Khemba or Raksha

Either of the Leonin Khas would be really cool to see in New Phyrexia, especially in the same manner as Slobad or Venser (resurrected tech-zombies). Elesh Norn could use them to bring the Leonin of the Razorfields under her thumb, then unleash their martial prowess on the heroes. Or, perhaps they will unite the clans AGAINST the Mother of Machines, assisting the planeswalkers in defeating the Phyrexian menace.

Glissa

Glissa Sunseeker was an almost planeswalker, then a pariah, then a Phyrexian puppet. Honestly, the girl deserves a win, and this could be the perfect time for her to get it. Fresh from her completion at the hands of Vorinclex, Glissa could be either a powerful asset or a terrible foe to the planeswalker alliance. She was one of my favorite characters in both the original set and the birth of New Phyrexia, so I’d love to see more of her. Besides, the reborn Slobad needs a friendly face.

Oh hey! BoLS might make a little dolla-dolla if you decide to buy these items.
