Star Wars: What We’re Excited to See in the Upcoming Year
2022 was pretty good for fans of the galaxy far far away, and with any luck, 2023 could be full of some solid TV shows, too.
Last year had a few bright highlights when it came to Star Wars content. And it looks like 2023 could possibly be just as good of a year for the galaxy’s TV shows. There’s a lot that we’re looking forward to, and we’ll definitely be watching it all as it comes out. But these are the things we’re most excited to see.
The Bad Batch
Luckily the wait for this one is pretty minimal and The Bad Batch will be on our TVs in two days. Premiering on Disney+ on January 4th, Clone Force 99 will return with more of the earliest days of Imperial rule. The first season wasn’t a winner with everybody, and that’s okay. But if you’re a fan of clone troopers’ stories and seeing exactly how the Empire came to power so quickly and absolutely, you may agree with me that this show is pretty great. Also, it was created by Dave Filoni, and that alone deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Mandalorian Season 3
It feels like The Mandalorian is one of the few pieces of Star Wars that can do no wrong. This show was credited with making the franchise fun again by so many, and I can totally understand this opinion. The monster-of-the-week style stories mixed with the near-constant cameos, adorable Grogu, and the very fun western feel have made every episode of The Mandalorian to date very enjoyable.
Din Djarin even managed to be the best part of The Book Of Boba Fett; a show that wasn’t even supposed to be about him! For those of us looking for some lighthearted fun, the next season of The Mandalorian‘s return in February of this year is very welcome. We just hope Grogu hasn’t gotten into too much trouble…. off-camera.
Ahsoka
We don’t know when we can expect Ahsoka to premiere, but we do know that we can’t wait. Not a whole lot is known about this series, but we do know Ezra Bridger will be joining the galaxy’s live-action family with Eman Esfandi, Hayden Christensen will be back again either as Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, or both. And as of Ahsoka Tano‘s appearance in season two of The Mandalorian, she was on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn. And to be honest, that’s all already enough to have me very excited.
Skeleton Crew
This is another one of those upcoming projects that we unfortunately just don’t know much about yet, but Celebration 2022 confirmed a 2023 release, so we’re keeping our eyes peeled for more information or even a trailer. This show has been described as kid-centric in a similar style as Stranger Things and Goonies. And if done right, that can be really promising. I can’t wait to see more about this project and get a better feel for what we’ll be looking at.
What upcoming Star Wars projects are you most excited about? Do you think 2023 will be better for galactic shows or are those boots too big to fill? What 2022 show was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
