Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Inceptors Points Fix
Games Workshop issued a quick fix for Space Marine Inceptors in a different format than normal.
Space Marine players we’re a little surprised to see that Inceptors with Plasma Exterminators were the same cost as their assault bolter-wielding battle brothers in the latest points update. Turns out that, yes, that was indeed an oversight. However, instead of GW waiting for the next Munitorum Field Manual update in a few months, they pushed out a change to the points in a new way.
If you’ve been to the WarCom site lately you may have noticed a new info bar towards the top/middle of the page. That usually updates with the latest posts but today was a little different:
This one popped up and after scrolling around I didn’t find a link to any article about the “Fixing a points error” listed. So, I clicked the image and this popped-up:
Alright — that’s short and concise. They made an oopsie and have updated the points in the Munitorum Field Manual already. Following the link provided, I checked the for the new MFM:
Sure enough the update is there. It’s a little strange it’s not magenta but then again it wasn’t so much a points update as it was a typo. In either case, you now have to pay the points for those Plasma Exterminators.
I have mixed feelings about this new format for the update. On one hand, I appreciate the quick turnaround and the acknowledgement of the error. On the other hand, this “banner to a pop-up” is kind of a weird way to do it. To be fair, it does look different on mobile devices so there is that.

I don’t think GW is trying to hide it and maybe it didn’t warrant a massive article. It’s probably going to get mentioned in a Metawatch in the future (or maybe not). Still, I’m not sure if this is my preference for getting updates about points changes in general. I like having them for balance reasons but I also like to be notified about them. Honestly, I’ve probably skipped over that section on the WarCom site dozens of times but this one time it caught my eye. So I guess it worked…this time.
TL;DR – Glad for the correction but needs work on the delivery.
