We’ve got some theories on which xenos faction will be featured in the 4th Arks of Omen book.

Games Workshop already teased the 4th book in the Arks of Omen series. Will it be the final book or will there be more after? We’re not 100% sure. What we do know is that his is kind of an endcap on the current edition. We also have confirmation that it will be a xeno-centric book, too.

Where’s the confirmation? Well, it’s from GW themselves:

So with that out of the way the next question is…which xenos faction?

Choose Your Xenos

At least we’ve got a pretty short list of options for which xenos faction in 40k:

  • Aeldari
  • Drukhari
  • Genestealer Cults
  • Necrons
  • Orks
  • T’au
  • Tyranids
  • Leagues of Votann*

Yeah, Leagues of Votann — they ARE listed as Xeno Armies on the Games Workshop page:

So which faction could it be? Well, let’s go through some of the evidence. And one of the biggest clues is the model teaser that GW put out late last year:

From that teaser we had 3 models that were very likely xenos miniatures:

This one is probably a Drukhari model. Which…yeah, they could use some attention so that checks out.

A possible Ork Kommando? He’s big and has two very large blades. So…maybe?

This one has to be Commander Farsight, right? Those legs and torso look too T’au Commander-y not to be. And there’s only one T’au with that kind of a sword…

Anyhow, I could see any of these three options being viable. But those aren’t the only clues…

There’s a lot of signs that point to a Leagues of Votann wave coming. It would be fitting for them to have an impact on the Arks of Omen story line considering how they’ve just kind of shown up again after a long hiatus. There are various Rumor Engines that point to them and we could totally see them being interested in exploring the Arks of Omen, too.

Also consider the fact that Vashtorr is a sort of sentient machine chaos demi-god. I wonder if he would be interested in getting his mitts on one of the AI cores the Leagues have. Perhaps there’s a connection there, too.

What about the Tyranids or Genestealer Cults? This is kind of a weird one as the Tyranids seem to be anti-warp thanks to their own psychic onslaught/presence with the Shadow of in the Warp. Considering how the Arks of Omen function, I just don’t know if they would be a good fit in this particular story arc. Sorry ‘nids.

The Necrons, however could make a resurgence — but I also think they are unlikely. They are doing their thing in the Pariah Nexus. But they were the “big bad” at the start of 9th so it would be kind of cool to see them bookend the edition. Not ruling them out completely but I also don’t think they are super likely.

What about the Aeldari? They’ve been silent for a bit and they always seem to swoop in the help clean up messes. Maybe they will do it again with Arks of Omen. They do seem to have a knack for messing with Abaddon’s plans!

There’s one more xenos faction that I do wonder about. Could the Arks be the ‘thing’ that brings back the Ynnari? I mean, they kinda helped usher in some big changes before…And GW seems to have put that whole story/plot on the backburner since they made their splash and left. But no…not a peep about them. Also, notice they don’t have a spot on the official GW Xenos Armies list now, either. Not a good sign for the Ynarri.

So…Which Xenos Faction?

With all that speculation and evidence out in the open my guess is that Leagues of Votann or T’au are the most likely candidates. Leagues because of all the Rumor Engine teasers. And T’au because of the Farsight tease. I think an Arks of Omen: Farsight book would be pretty cool. And it could also explain how the T’au are mastering Warp Travel, too.

Whatever the case, we’ll find out in the Spring — place your bets now.

What do you think? Which xenos faction is going to get the 4th Arks of Omen book?
