Warhammer World Championships Announced
Games Workshop is announcing the World Championship of Warhammer – Coming in November!
Get ready for the World Championships of Warhammer! That’s right, Games Workshop is back once again with the global event for Warhammer and this massive throwdown is being held in Atlanta, Georgia.
“For the past two years, the US Open Series has come to a head in a finale at the end of each season. Behind the scenes, our Warhammer Events Team has been working with the worldwide community of independent organisers, with an eye to making this year’s finale a truly global event.
The 2023 tournament season will culminate in just that – the World Championships of Warhammer.
This incredible finale will be fought between winners of some of the biggest and best Warhammer events from around the world. Qualifying players will be invited to the finals in Atlanta, Georgia, in the USA, from November 16th to November 19th.”
Games Workshop will be hosting the event at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia
But Wait, Which Warhammer Games?
Good question! We’ve be vague up to this point and you might have assumed this was for 40k and probably for AoS — but there are two more games that are getting World Championships, too. Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds are also going to have World Championships!
There are more details to come. But for now, you need to know that there are qualifying spots to score and events that can get you an invite.
“Qualifying players will come from official Warhammer events, like the US Open series and Warhammer Fest, as well as independent events like the Las Vegas Open, AdeptiCon, the London GT, NOVA Open, and other major events.
At the time of writing, we have more than 170 qualifier slots from 18 countries across 3 continents. This includes Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US, to name but a few – and we’re still looking at expanding further! Keep an eye out for news of the full list of qualifying events in the coming weeks.”
If you’re a Tournament Organizer of a large event you’ve got a chance to make your event a qualifier! How? GW has a form you can fill out. Keep in mind that just because you fill out the form there are a limited number of slots to go around. So good luck!
