Fans can relax – there are more mysteries and Nevermore drama on the way. Wednesday is getting a second season.

The iconic goth family returned to the small screen last fall with a focus on the Addams’ homicidal daughter, Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega). After being expelled from multiple ‘normal’ schools, she’s admitted to one more fitting – one just for outcasts. Her first year there holds a supernatural mystery for the cynical teen.

The show brilliantly balances a relatable coming-of-age story and the world of the iconic family of macabre weirdos. The first season is streaming on Netflix now, you can check out our review here.

For those that have seen it: Netflix has greenlit a second season. Earlier this week, rumors were flying about Wednesday moving to Amazon due to their acquisition of MGM, but she’s staying where she’s at.

Wednesday Renewed

Wednesday Addams’ first year at Nevermore Academy continues to break Netflix viewership records weeks after its debut. The first season is a massive hit for Netflix, with 1.237 billion hours viewed within the show’s first 28 days (right behind Stranger Things S4). Fans have fallen for Jenna Orega’s take on the Addams’ youngest daughter, turning her biggest moments into memes. The reaction has convinced Netflix to order a second season.

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement…

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

The statement came with an announcement video highlighting some of the show’s great moments.
