Age of Sigmar: ‘Regiments of Renown’ Return With New Boxed Sets
Games Workshop is bringing back the Regiments of Renown to the Age of Sigmar with 6 brand new boxed sets. The Mercs for Hire return!
Age of Sigmar is getting some new support with the return of Regiments of Renown. With 6 new boxed sets coming there’s going to be at least one set per Grand Alliance — perfect for expanding your rosters!
“These roving brigands offer their services to whoever can guarantee them fame and fortune, seeking to build a reputation that echoes down the ages. The most (in)famous are known as Regiments of Renown – powerful mercenaries with skills that make them well worth the fees they charge their fairweather allies.”
The 6 sets cover a wide array of factions that they can ally with. Each box will have a few units and will have rules included for the special regiments. And yes, they are going to be useful in Matched Play, too.
” They are ready for matched play, with Pitched Battle profiles, rules for including them in each of the Grand Alliances, and unique new abilities.”
That’s right — not only will they have their own battalion option but they will also have some special rules like Norgrimm’s Rune Throng:
Personally, I’m curious to see how each of these battalions pans out. This is a departure from the standard GW structure of AoS as with the 3rd edition of AoS they moved away from having a bunch of additional warscroll battalions of Matched Play.
The GHB and the current seasonal battle pack does have additional Battalions available to everyone. However, these Regiments of Renown now how a Matched Play “legal” battalion to use…hopefully these additional rules don’t make them auto-includes but rather nice alternatives to their more “standard” units.
