‘Sailor Moon’ and ‘One Punch Man’ Are Getting Serious Collabs Soon
Sailor Moon and Overwatch are both joining forces with some pretty big companies for some serious collabs this season.
Anime collaborations aren’t a new thing. I have multiple pairs of both Sailor Moon and One Piece Vans in my house right now to prove it. But there are lots of companies who have joined forces with popular animes to sell specialized merch to some super fans. And it looks like One Punch Man and Sailor Moon may be two of the next popular shows to get pretty recognizable collabs.
One Punch Man x Overwatch
I love One Punch Man. It’s honestly one of my favorite animes and I’m so excited that Saitama and crew are finally coming back for season three soon. And, it seems the Overwatch team agrees.
Season Three of Overwatch 2 will feature quite a few fun, festive themes including a Valentine’s Day dating sim, an Antarctica Control Map, an Asian Mythology theme, and a full One Punch Man collaboration. So far we’ve only gotten a peek at the Doomfist Saitama skin. But developers promise multiple skins, cosmetics, and even a legendary skin or two. Will Tracer get a Speed-of-Sound Sonic skin? Will will get a Genos spray? At this point, we don’t know. But the possibilities are pretty much endless and very very fun. If you’re an Overwatch player, be sure to keep an eye out for these upcoming in-game events.
Sailor Moon x Jimmy Choo
This isn’t the first we’ve seen a Sailor Moon Jimmy Choo shoe. A little more than half a year ago we saw a full crystal pair of pink and white crystal-adorned shoes on display in the Sailor Moon Museum for the 30th-anniversary celebration. That pair had approximately 19,000 Swarovski crystals and cost a whopping $15,000 to order for yourself.
By comparison, this collaboration is much more reasonable. And, in my opinion, much cuter.
The collection includes a pair of shoes representing each of the inner senshi, two pairs of heels for Luna, two pairs of sneakers, and a handful of bags. Items range from $425 for “cardholder” style wallets to $6,595 for a Crystal and pearl Luna clutch. Most of the shoes are in the $1,200 area.
This may feel like a silly collaboration with a pretty limited customer base. But high fashion and Sailor Moon have crossed paths before. We just don’t usually hear about them because they’re specific to Japan. Not to mention. Naoko Takeuchi is a well-known fan of high fashion, drawing inspiration from many of her characters’ outfits from the runway.
That said, who will buy this? My guess is it will basically be just Paris Hilton living all of our most expensive Sailor Moon dreams while the rest of us leave our email for the official launch so we can gawk at the prices in real-time.
What One Punch Man-inspired goodies do you think Overwatch will be adding? Do you think you’ll be buying anything from the Sailor Moon Jimmy Choo line? Do you own anything from a famous anime collaboration? Let us know in the comments!
Ja Ne, Adventurers!
