‘Evil Dead The Game’ Releases Special Battle Royale Mode, New Character, & More
Evil Dead The Game gets even more content and enters the battle royale game genre.
Evil Dead The Game is an asynchronous multiplayer game that celebrates all things Evil Dead. Released May 2022 and developed by Saber Interactive, 4 players play one of many characters from both the original Evil Dead movies and the 2013 reboot to survive Deadite hordes controlled by another player. The game can be played together with friends or alone with bots. It is a bloody good time with many familiar faces, locations, and weapons from the series. Best of all, most of the original cast members were able to return to voice many of the characters, including the man himself, Bruce Campbell.
The game is set to release on the PS Plus free games for the month of February and with this timing comes new content for the game for anyone looking to chainsaw foes together with their friends.

“Good, Bad, I’m the Guy With a Gun”
Battle Royale games are all the rage thanks to PUBG starting the trend and Fortnite for perfecting it. A silent Ash even joined the crossover-packed battle royale back in October. The developers over at Saber Interactive decided that the game already uses the same concepts as battle royale games where you scavenge for weapons to survive, so why not make it one?
Starting this month, a new mode called Splatter Royale is out that has 40 players using Deadite versions of the characters to survive on the map against both Deadite NPCs and each other. The idea is the same as most battle royales where only one can be the winner with some twists on the idea. You can gather items as usual with the option to also get special items from elite or boss NPCs on the map to give yourself an edge against the competition. The mode will also feature skill trees called Assassin, Butcher, Commando, or Marksman. You can fill them to make your character’s stats different during the match that focuses on different things just like the main game does for different characters normally.
This free update also comes with the new Grenade Launcher and Scythe weapon that will appear in the main game as well. The fact the game is cross-platform and will be getting an influx of people with PS Plus makes it a great time to try out this new mode.
“Shop Smart! Shop S-Mart!”
The other new content is paid DLC which is now separate from the first season pass and is $9.99. “Immortal Power Bundle” adds a new survivor character Ruby Knowby from the Starz show Ash vs the Evil Dead. Ruby was a Dark one who wrote the Necronomicon and posed as a member of the Knowby family in their search for Ash and the Book of the Dead. She was played by the wonderful Lucy Lawless for all 3 seasons of the show as both a villain and main character.
The character class for her will be a Leader type like Ash from Ash vs the Evil Dead and has the unique ability to consume souls to regain health. The character also has better resistance to possession and increased melee damage once leveled up further. The biggest downside of using them though is that they are unable to use an amulet to get a shield.
The pack also features new costumes for the other survivors and one of the demons. The new costumes are the Scourge of Evil outfit for Kelly, Fish ‘n’ Chips outfit for Pablo, the Party Animal outfit for Ash from Ash vs the Evil Dead, and King of the White Frost outfit for the Puppeteer Kandorian Demon class. The outfits for the game are great and a good way to stand out from any others who use the same characters as you. I am excited to see what other outfits eventually will make it in the game since they are all from something within the series.

Everything mentioned is out now and there is a season pass for most of the paid content already released. Evil Dead The Game is one of the best asynchronous games based on an existing property since both sides feel equally powerful making for some really fun matches. It also helps that it is one of my all-time favorite series ever as well. I highly recommend playing it with friends for maximum fun! The game is out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with cross-play between all of them.
