Marvel Pushes Back Multiverse RPG, Adds X-Men Expansion
Marvel might be delaying its Marvel Multiverse RPG to August, but not long after, a new X-Men-focused expansion will join it.
Leave it to anything comics-related to tell you that you’re both going to get more and have to wait. This is what Marvel announced earlier this week when they revealed that the Marvel Multiverse RPG’s core rulebook had been delayed to August in 2023.
No details as to what’s caused the delay, but both the Core Rulebook and the first planned adventure book, The Cataclysm of Kang, have been pushed back from their original release dates. The Marvel Multiverse RPG had originally been planned for April, with Kang following not long after.
However, both titles will be joined by a new expansion book, the X-Men Expansion Sourcebook. As the title suggests, the new expansion will bring dozens of X-Men and X-Men accessories to Marvel’s RPG Universe. Here’s what we know so far.
Marvel Delays RPG – Announces X-Men For 2024
In Marvel’s latest announcement, we got the updated release date for the Marvel Multiverse RPG — now it’s tentatively set for August 2, 2023, and is up for pre-order now. The core rulebook has been heavily revamped after an extensive playtest. We’ve talked about some of the changes here and here.
Then in “late 2023” The Cataclysm of Kang releases. This book features new character profiles and six interlocked adventures — again Marvel’s RPG is determined to give you the tools to play as the heroes from their books, for better or worse. You can technically create your own hero, but a big part of the experience seems to be putting together teams of your favorite characters:
This book includes new character profiles and features a series of six interlocked adventures. Fans can play through with a new team or character each time, or form a campaign that takes players from street-level heroes to cosmic champions!
And then in 2024, the X-Men Expansion arrives. This will be a “full-sized sourcebook” according to Marvel:
The X-Men Expansion is jammed full of vital information about Marvel’s most popular mutants, including dozens of new profiles for characters from X-Force, the New Mutants, and Marauders. It also includes full-color maps of famous X-Men locations, including the Xavier Institute, Krakoa, and Arakko, plus plenty of thrilling twists and turns for an entire campaign.
Be sure and check back when the Marvel Multiverse RPG releases later this August!
