Pedro Pascal answers the question we’ve all been wondering while watching The Mandalorian: it looks so cool, but how do you act in that thing?!

Mandalorian armor is as iconic as the Jedi robes and Stormtrooper uniforms. Din Djarin‘s version is one of the coolest costumes on the small screen right now with its rugged details, built in tech, and impenetrable Beskar armor. Then there’s that awesome helmet that takes inspiration from the barbute helm of the late middle ages – you have to wonder how the heck the hero sees anything through it. According to Pedro Pascal, the actor who has to wear it, not much.

“It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it. It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see shit! … They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind. Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m gonna fall into it.”

Despite the issues, the actor admits that “when it’s on, you immediately feel powerful, protected, dangerous, and like a protector.” Something Din has become over the last two seasons as he’s adopted Grogu and made him part of his next mission: leaving his lone gunslinger life behind and accepting the power the Darksaber has given him to lead Mandalore.
