Warhammer 40K: Vashtorr And The Dark Mechanicus
Stoke the hell forges and prepare daemon engines because with the rise of Vashtorr the Dark Mechanicus can’t be far behind.
By now, you’ve probably seen the new Vashtorr model and got a bit about his backstory. Well, with this new Chaos Demigod’s arrival his cult of followers can’t be far behind. And who better to follow him than the mighty Dark Mechanicus?
And it’s about time! We’ve been seeing signs of them for years. Let’s take a quick look back at a few of the kits that screamed “Dark Mechanicus Rising” from the past.

Who is very much rocking a Dark Mechanicus symbol and also a Machine Spirit!
Not to mention all the other Daemon Engines and Hell-forged beasts of chaos…
“Oh but those are all Chaos Space Marine Models — that’s not Dark Mechanicus” Yeah, but who do you think built them. The point is that Chaos has this faction that’s been in the background for a long, long time. After the Adeptus Mechanicus got their own army, I’m sure that GW was thinking, “Now that we’ve got them in the game how can we make them more…chaotic?”
I think that with the arrival of Vashtorr, the Dark Mechanicus has to be on the way. They could be the ultimate faction of merging man and machine (and daemons).
If there was going to be a cult that worshiped Vashtorr the Dark Mechanicus would be that cult. Vashtorr is basically the chaos version of the omnissiah, right? He was born out of the chaos of creation and forging. He’s a freakin’ demigod! And if he wants to ascend to full chaos god-hood, he’s going to need followers. Seems like a match made in…the warp!
This new force might not be arriving soon. But I could totally see Chaos getting another army in the future that is the Dark Mechanicus led by Vashtorr and his minions. They may or may not need to ally in Chaos Allies (like Daemon Engines). But the Ad Mech kind of came outta nowhere, too. GW’s been teasing these guys for a long time. This pairing seems like a real no brainer.
