Age of Sigmar: Chaos Battletome Confirmations & Releases
The next two Battletomes have been confirmed by Games Workshop. Blade of Khorne and Hedonites of Slaanesh are inbound!
It looks like our predictions on which battletomes were next panned out. Now that Kharadron Overlords are up for Pre-order this weekend the next two battletomes have been confirmed by Games Workshop and they each have a few new products coming out with their releases.
Blades of Khorne Releases
“The Era of the Beast has induced savagery across the Mortal Realms, as the primal energy of Ghur suffuses the fragile minds of mortals. This outbreak of barbarism has pleased Khorne greatly, and his blood-mad worshippers have conducted vile new rituals to channel this rage into power.”
Besides the new Battletome: Blades of Khorne the devotees of Khorne are also getting a new character with the Realmgore Ritualist.
Based on the fact that it’s Khorne and this is a “ritualist” I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that this model is a priest and not a wizard. That and the rule teaser kinda hints at it, too:
“Followers of Khorne will understand that none of this is even tangentially thaumaturgical, and you won’t find a scintilla of sorcery in Battletome: Blades of Khorne. You will however get a full complement of prayers – benedictions from the Blood God that are, once again, not spells even remotely.”
See — prayers to Khorne AREN’T magic. Those are totally just like, faith and stuff. Khorne doesn’t do magic and neither do his followers. Anyhow, there’s also a new Vanguard box to get you going.
Contents:
10x Bloodreavers
10x Blood Warriors
3x Mighty Skullcrushers
Slaughterpriest
All-in, this is a good release for the Blades of Khorne and inline with some of the other battletome updates this go around. We’ve seen this batch get the book, Vanguard box, and new character treatment and Blades of Khorne follows that trend.
Hedonites of Slaanesh Releases
“The Dark Prince Slaanesh remains incarcerated in the twilight non-realm of Uhl-Gysh, though his mortal legions continue to try and free him with all their might and guile. “
The Hedonites of Slaanesh are also following the trend. New book, new hero, and new battlebox.
The Lord of Hubris is a duelist first and foremost. But don’t let his looks fool you into a false sense of security. He might act like a peacock but he’s got some tricks up his non-existent sleeves.
His rules are going to allow for some dirty tech-plays if you do it right. And he might just be able to survive an onslaught to make the enemy pay for accepting his challenge.
This rule screams of the old Challenge rules from Warhammer Fantasy but with some tweaks. If you’re feeling lucky that 4+ ward might just carry the Lord of Hubris to victory. Or at least cause the enemy to waste all their attacks on him only.
Contents:
Shardspeaker of Slaanesh
3x Slaangor Fiendbloods
10x Blissbarb Archers w/ Homonculus companion
5x Slickblade Seekers/Blissbarb Seekers
These two Battletomes are the final chaos reveals from the Roadmap and things are shaping up nicely. Get ready for an influx of blood and pain from the Chaos Battletomes coming soon!
…Are his tricks in his glove?
