Necromunda: Where Are The Spyrers?
We’ve got a rebellion brewing and Lady Haera Helmawr herself is making her way down to the fight. Where so where are the Spyrers?
There are some pretty crazy events happening on the planet of Necromunda right now. Games Workshop is releasing Lady Haera Helmawr, the new de facto leader of House Helmawr who recently rose to power after some untimely (and not so accidental) things happened to her siblings. They’ve even put out a scenario in which you can field her and score some sweet, sweet archeotech loot, too.
She’s clearly got a killer instinct. But she’s not the only noble who’s come down from the top of the Hive Spire to do some bloodletting. In fact, she’s actually the most recent in a very long line of Nobles who’s gotten their hands dirty. These nobles used to form their own “gangs” and head down to the underhive for various reasons. They were known as Spyrers.
The Spyre Hunters
Now, I’m not going to go down the full lore-hole here. If you’d like to read about the Spyrers and their different suits and all that juicy lore, check out the Lexicanum. However, what I am going to get into is the main point here: Where the heck are these Spyrers at!?
Right now seems like the best time ever for them to show back-up and start their hunts up once again. As mentioned above there’s a rebellion brewing. Furthermore, the leadership at the top is still fresh and maybe hasn’t established total dominance — or at least that power vacuum is still fresh. Now would be a great time for some young upstart nobles to sneak off and start murder-sprees down in the hive.
Nobles? Yes. Possible Spyre Hunters? Also yes…
Mostly, I just think that these models deserve glow-up and should return to the tabletop. Don’t get me wrong GW has been steadily cranking out some great minis for Necromunda. The Ash Wastes added vehicles to the game and we’re still waiting on a few gangs to get theirs but there’s plenty of room for more “one-off” models. And if Lady Haera Helmawr is getting a model, then why the heck not bring back the Spyerers?

I also think now would be a great time to bring them back and update their lore. Are they rich kids on safari? Yes. But The Predator is basically an alien on safari and they managed to turn that into a whole franchise. Just sayin.
