In The Last Kingdom sequel, the war for a united England is coming, and sides must be chosen. Uhtred is ready for battle in the first trailer.

The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Tales – historical novels that cover the birth of England in the ninth and tenth centuries. The show is set in 866 after the Great Heathen Army arrived in Britain. It follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg, a Saxon raised by Vikings, as he tries to reclaim his birthright while Alfred the Great fights to protect his kingdom.

You can watch the five-season series on Netflix now – if you binge it, there may be enough time to catch up before the sequel movie drops.

The story continues in a two-hour movie. Seven Kings Must Die sees the return of the great warrior Uhtred of Bebbanburg. Following the death of King Edward, invaders and rival heirs battle for the crown. Uthred must ride across a fractured kingdom with his compatriots once more to attempt to form a united England. They will battle alongside and against new allies and enemies.

This first trailer gives just enough of a taste without giving away what’s to come.
