Warhammer 40K Meta Hotness: Eightbound

World Eaters have one of the best new Elite units in the game with the Eightbound, and their favorite brothers the Exalted Eightbound.

The Marine Meta keeps moving but Chaos isn’t just left to the dust.  The World Eaters are bringing some interesting things to the table with some powerful secondaries that build upon how they want to play the game – killing you or dying a ton.  While I wish the Codex had more options they do have one of the best with the Eightbound.

8 Bloodletters shoved into a Space Marine that hasn’t showered for days gets you an Eightbound.  If somehow they are even more angrier they become Exalted but the real sweetness is the regular Eightbound that you will see a ton of if you are playing versus a World Eaters army.  The crazy killers of the World Eaters who are mad enough to get locked into a cage and have Daemons forced into their bodies.  Does that sound 40K enough to you?

Eightbound 101

Look the World Eater codex is really Angron and his Daemon bros codex.  The Berzerkers are cool but the real stars are the Eightbound.  They are fast and super Killy on top of just being crazy looking models.  I like them and while I wish they had Zerk helmets instead of the angry faces we see – they are still pretty sweet models to build and paint.  It makes me sad it seems to be a little bit hard acquiring these guys but that is the cost we pay for having a sweet unit to play with.

Eightbound Have 8 Bloodletters In Them!

They have a ton of attacks, move very fast, and can punch extremely hard.  Plus with the CORE keyword you can get them to reroll things as well.  It is crazy how just having 8 Bloodletters inside you give you so many great things!  Plus all the Bloodtithe bonuses can stack up and they just shoot to the moon on a rocket of damage dealing mayhem.

Be Aggressive – Be Be Aggressive!

World Eaters Eightbound are super aggressive with good weapons and access to a damage increasing stratagem, as well as being fast.  Their friendly Juggerlord will help them get there faster. Also, just the sheer nature of being meaner versions of the Possessed mean they should get there.  Heck if you are not playing Angron you could look at using Lord Invocatus to make them get there faster or – ensure they get moved up and hidden quickly amongst the ruins on the board.  They have the CORE keyword for the regular ones which is a huge deal as it allows them to get all the aura goodies and stratagems they love to use.

Sample List

Terek Haehl took 2nd place at the Scorched Earth Open in Arizona with this Angron central list utilizing Eightbound and their Exalted brothers.  Utilizing the best Elite choice in the Wold Eater Book to try and power up Angron coming down multiple times is going to be something you will see a lot in the coming months.  Sometimes he just slams in, makes all his saves, and your life as an opponent is short and sweet.  Other times he is going to die 3-4 times as he fails to make it into combat.

Tips and Tricks for your Eightbound

The simple trick is get them into assault. But really for these types of armies the other tip is to make sure you are on an objective, were on an objective before you moved, and make sure you kill or get killed if you did either of those things.  This army is going to passively score by doing what it wants to do – try to kill you in assault or die while trying to kill you.  It will build up its Blood Tithe, trade them out for Angron, or trade them out to score more points.  It is a unique idea in building an army. These Eightbound anchored lists will most likely allow them to keep up with some of the rough armies out there while still being true to their Khornate nature.
