First ‘Dune: Part Two’ Photos Reveal Princess Irulan and Feyd Rautha
The first photos of Dune: Part Two are finally here – Austin Butler’s Feyd Rautha would eat Sting’s version alive.
The next movie covers the second half of the classic sci-fi novel, starting with Paul and Jessica’s trek to the Fremen sietch. This half will bring more interplanetary politics, Paul’s rise as a leader, and the start of the Muad’Dib’s Jihad. Plus, all of the new characters that come with that expansion. Villeneuve has promised that there will be more action in this movie than in the last, which contains a substantial amount of world-building. He’s described this installment as a war movie.
“It’s important—it’s not a sequel, it’s a second part. There’s a difference. I wanted the movie to really open just where we left the characters. There’s no time jump. I wanted dramatic continuity with part one.”
– Denis Villeneuve
Dune: Part Two First Look
The cast that made it out of Part 1 alive is returning. Vanity Fair and Villeneuve shared the first look at the upcoming movie – including details about Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot Fenring, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha.
Margot Fenring is a Bene Gesserit sister, but will be a secret agent in the movie… It’s a character full of surprises.
The main goal of the Bene Gesserit is to make sure that humanity will move in the right direction. The Bene Gesserit, they don’t think about what’s good or what is evil. That’s not very important for them. What is important is to bring humanity to its full potential and to try to create a being that will bring humanity to enlightenment. It’s their full agenda, which takes place over thousands of years of planning and controlling. They are the true masters of this world. Their biggest weapon is time. They see the world in centuries.
[Princess Irulan’s] stake could not be higher because she’s afraid that her father could lose the throne, could lose everything. When I met Florence, I was struck by her assurance, how grounded she is as a young woman, how direct, how unapologetic. She has something inherently royal about her.
Villeneuve is saving a full reveal of Feyd Rautha till later in the publicity campaign. Cinemacon attendees that saw preview footage described his look as pale, bald, and absolutely brutal – like his Harkonnen brethren.
“Austin Butler brought to the screen something that would be a cross between a psychotic, sociopath serial killer and Mick Jagger… He’s someone Machiavellian, much more cruel, much more strategic, and is more narcissistic”

I have a feeling we’re going to have to wait for a trailer to see Christopher Walken’s Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. Based on comments made at Cinemacon, that should be soon.
Dune: Part Two is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 3rd.
