Let’s Play D&D With the Armorer from ‘The Mandalorian’
The season finale of The Mandalorian is here so we’re inviting the mysterious Armorer to play D&D. This is the way.
Today – or tomorrow as I write this – the season finale of The Mandalorian comes out. This season has featured the mysterious Armorer a bunch more than its predecessors. She’s been an important part of Din’s life the whole time, but I have a feeling we’re about to learn a whole bunch more about her very soon. So this week, let’s play D&D with…
The Armorer
Since The Armorer is so mysterious, there’s a lot we just don’t know about her. What’s her background? Does she have any secret skills or motivations that aren’t known to us? It’s a mystery!
Of course, I’m writing this post on Tuesday knowing that the show will come out Wednesday and may just answer some of our questions. So if that does happen and this sheet needs an immediate update, just let us know in the comments that that’s something you want to see.
But for now, The Armorer is pretty mysterious. We hardly see her fight or go on missions. When we do see her go on missions, I’m not entirely sure I’ve seen her carry a blaster. What we do see her do time and time again is make armor and lead her tribe. So I made her an Armorer Artificer. Is the Armorer subclass a bit on the nose? Yeah. But she makes specialty armor.
This gives her access to lots of infusions and ways to make armor neat and special. Y’know, sort of like how Mandalorian armor is known throughout the galaxy for being special.
For weapons, I gave her a warhammer and a pistol (blaster), which is admittedly a little creative freedom on my part. As I said, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen her carry a blaster, but it seems like a safe bet that she has one stashed away somewhere. The hammer she uses in the show is a smaller utility hammer. She seems to use the same tool for fighting and armor crafting alike. And yes, there is a light hammer available. But if we’re adventuring through a fantasy setting, something a little bigger and heartier may make for a better weapon.
Because she’s a respected and loved leader, I have her the feat Inspiring Leader. And she is pretty darn inspiring. Even Bo-Katan is inspired to follow The Armorer’s lead.
Artificers have access to a few spells, and in the context of Star Wars, I think of spells and magic being more associated with the Force. Which I don’t think The Armorer has. But who knows, maybe she does. The spells she ended up with partially came from her sub-class and were partially things I thought would work well with who she is. She can ‘heat metal’ in her forge or ‘summon food and water’ for her newly arrived Mandalorian guests.
Do you think we’ll learn who The Armorer really is today on The Mandalorian? If you’ve already seen it, were you right? What movie, comic, show, or game should we make sheets from next time? Let us know in the comments!
Happy adventuring!
