New Anime Shows to Watch This Spring
April is here and that means it’s time for the spring anime season! Here are a few of the new shows we’re excited to check out.
The winter anime have either wrapped up for the season or are just about it, and it’s time again for a whole new season or anime premieres. Here are a few of next season’s new shows that we’re looking forward to checking out.
Tengoku Daimakyou (Heavenly Delusion)
This show looks super weird, and I’m into it. This show has a definite post-apocalyptic feel with a walled city where kids are raised in nurseries by robots, and a hellscape of supernatural beings inhabiting the outside world. Maru and Kiruko explore what was once Tokyo in search of Heaven, but the world that’s left may just be too far gone. If you didn’t get enough of exploring destroyed modern cities in The Last of Us, this may be one to check out.

Iwakura Mitsumi is an excellent student but a bit naïve, and now she’s on her way to Tokyo to attend a prestigious university. Only she’s never been out on her own before. This anime looks like an adorable slice of life, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want to see. I love shows where people overcome low-stakes issues by making friends and showing kindness. And this one looks especially sweet.
Isekai Shoukan Wa Nidome Desu (Summoned to Another World for a Second Time)
Setsu was common to another world to save it, and he did. Since then everything’s been going great and he’s been well-loved and popular. That is until he was sent back to his home world as a baby. Are isekai-style animes a little played out? Yeah, maybe. But a reverse isekai? I’m intrigued! What happens when the gloomy high school student lives as a hero to an entire world and then has to return to the regular old Earth?
Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers
This show looks wild so I’m just going to share the description from Myanimelist. “Set in a dystopic near future where otaku culture in Japan has been obliterated by a mysterious organization known as “SSC”, Magical Girl Destroyers follows the misadventures of Otaku Hero – a young revolutionary who loves otaku culture – and Anarchy, Blue, and Pink, a trio of magical girls who admire him. Together they struggle to create “a world where you can say what you like about what you like as much as you like”
The idea of saving Otaku Culture and having an Otaku Hero is very funny on its face, so I’m sold already. But what I really want to know more about are these magical girl destroyers who look like a mixture between sailor moon and every evil henchman ever. This looks very fun and I’ll definitely be checking it out.
What upcoming new animes are you excited to check out this spring? What was your favorite new anime of last season? And of course, what returning anime are you sure to be tuning in for? Let us know in the comments!
Ja ne, adventurers!
