‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ Lets You Get Weird With Cal Kestis’ Look
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – the Republic’s first makeover story? Cal Kestis gets some fun character customization features.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor comes out at the end of the month and is one of the most anticipated games of the year! Cal Kestis is back to fight the Galactic Empire in search of a brand new home with his friends where he will be free from the Empire. This new adventure will take him all over the Galaxy once more and this time he’ll be able to look more different than ever before!
Ch-ch-changes are Coming to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
VGC and Kotaku were both given an early preview of the game recently to try it out. The game has major improvements throughout like tightening up the controls and letting Cal keep everything he knew before. This way it won’t be like Metroid Prime or Symphony of the Night where they trip and all their powerups disappear to be relearned. While this is all exciting news, the absolute coolest thing was that the fans clamored for more customization options for Cal. There were hints at customization from the pre-order bonuses for the game’s various editions being outfits and weapon customization. Respawn Entertainment delivered on the customization more than anyone expected!
The game takes place 5 years after the last game and Cal Kestis is no longer baby-faced by default. The game lets you take this idea even further with customizable hair and facial hair to unlock to make Cal look however you want! So if you want him to look like he grew out his hair, grew out a beard, or even decided to just grow a mullet, you can now.
Much of the cosmetics can be unlocked in-game in shops or just by unlocking them throughout the game. BD-1 also will be getting cosmetics like colors and parts to make him look even more unique than the last game let you do.
Clothes
The other feature that we mostly knew thanks to the pre-order bonuses is the different clothes option for Cal. You will be able to swap his shirt out with things from the last game as well as costumes that look like other characters in the Star Wars universe.
Unlike the last game which was mostly space ponchos, you will be able to swap also the pants of Kestis’s outfit. This way you can mix and match as much as you want. Do you want Han Solo’s pants, but Luke’s yellow jacket from the end of Star Wars? Well, now you can beat up the Empire in style!
Customizable Saber
Returning from the last game is the customizable Lightsaber. Cal’s lightsaber will have all the same parts as the last one, but you will be able to also unlock new parts throughout the game. Depending on how you have your Saber built, it will affect how it looks during gameplay.
The Kyber Crystals change what the blade’s color will be and joining the game for the first time is the white crystal. Mix and match if you would like to make the lightsaber you always wanted to wield. I tended to go red and blue for double-sided or just blue or green for single blades.
The game continues to impress and I am excited to play it to make Cal into either the coolest-looking Jedi Knight or the dumbest one ever. There will be no in-between.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor releases on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on April 28th
“Life’s a garden, dig it.” – Joe Dirt and Mullet Cal Kestis, probably.
