Warhammer 40K: Primaris Dante – Inferno Pistol No More
Commander Dante got a Primaris Upgrade and his iconic Inferno Pistol is no more…because it got a upgrade, too!
Games Workshop unveiled the Primaris Commander Dante rules today that are coming along with his new model. How does he stack-up? Not that different honestly. But he did get some new tweaks.
“Not too much has changed for the venerable Commander, because it’s hard to improve on perfection, but his relic Perdition Pistol has received a serious upgrade. No longer a vanilla inferno pistol, it now fires a solid beam of melta right through anything in its way, melting man, beast, and tank like so much butter.”
The Perdition Pistol is his new toy and it’s quite the upgrade. It’s basically a laser-pointer of melta doom! Not too shabby although the range is still only 9″. Let’s take a closer look at the rest of his Datasheet.

Statwise, he really didn’t change all that much. He did get the “Primaris Bump” with wounds and attacks which is to be expected. Wargear-wise, his weapons are better with the Axe Mortalis also getting a slight weapon rework. But really it’s the Perdition Pistol that’s the star of the show there. Still, Dante is no slouch in close combat so you can expect him to lead from the front!
Additionally, he’s still got a bunch of Abilities befitting a Chapter Master. He’s still got the Iron Halo Invulnerable save of 4+. He’s still got the Death Mask of Sanguinius which causes a -1 to hit modifier for attacks that target him. And he’s got all the extra aura’s you’d expect, too. He also has the extra Command Point generation as well as the Epic Hero of the Imperium ability that allows him to use the Epic Deed Stratagem once per game for free.
Commander Dante is still a Chapter Master and is certainly worth running with some supporting units (like Sanguinary Guard). He’ll be dropping in an mopping up in no time! I don’t think he’s going to single-handedly win you the game but he’s good enough that he warrants more than just a passing consideration for only 175 points!
