We’re Joining NERV With This ‘Evangelion’ Misato Katsuragi Cosplay
Misato Katsuragi is the glue that keeps the Evangelion team together, and this cosplayer has us ready to join NERV.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of those legendarily weird shows. It starts off as a normal-enough post-apocalyptic mech show and eventually goes off of the rails in a way that late-90s anime fans ask each other if they’ve seen that shit yet. It’s also one of the most well-known and popular anime of all time, and the characters are no small reason for that.
Misato is one of the main characters of Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Operations Director of NERV. And since the giant robots can only be piloted by teenagers, she also becomes the adult in charge of the kids in the show. She’s funny and relatable in a show that can get pretty dark, but she is also sharply competent, smart, and protective of her crew.
She acts as a touchstone both for the EVA piloting kids and for us as the audience. And throughout the show, it’s through her that we learn some of the hardest truths about the world. Misato’s a great character, but she’s also tailor-made to be universally loved by the audience.
Sarah’s Misato cosplay brings her off of the screen and into real life. And she captures Misato’s attitude, coolness, and how she’s just a little bit scary perfectly.
