‘Foundation’ Season 2 – Lee Pace Faces an Uprising Against the Galactic Empire in New Trailer
The first Foundation Season 2 trailer shows the start of an uprising and hints at the fall of an interstellar empire.
There have been attempts to adapt the novels to both movie and TV formats over the years. West World‘s Jonathan Nolan almost adapted it for HBO. None worked out till last year. Apple teamed with David S. Goyer to bring the epic story of a collapsing empire. And a dangerous plan to save the best of what mankind has created to the screen.
For twelve thousand years the Galactic Empire has ruled supreme. Now it is dying. Only Hari Seldon, creator of the revolutionary science of psychohistory, can see into the future—a dark age of ignorance, barbarism, and warfare that will last thirty thousand years. To preserve knowledge and save humanity, Seldon gathers the best minds in the Empire—both scientists and scholars—and brings them to a bleak planet at the edge of the galaxy to serve as a beacon of hope for future generations. He calls this sanctuary the Foundation. But soon the fledgling Foundation finds itself at the mercy of corrupt warlords rising in the wake of the receding Empire. And mankind’s last best hope is faced with an agonizing choice: submit to the barbarians and live as slaves—or take a stand for freedom and risk total destruction.
Foundation S1 is about a technology that can predict what’s to come. As well as the dangerous plan to save the best of what mankind has created. Adapting Asimov’s massive and groundbreaking trilogy for television was no small feat. Changes were made to the story for the format, and not everyone approved. More changes are coming in Foundation Season 2 – including a bunch of new characters.
Foundation Season 2 Cast
This season sees the return of Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Terrence Mann, and Cassian Bilton. They’re joined by three characters from the books – Dimitri Leonidas as Hober Mallow, Ben Daniels as General Bel Riose, and Kulvinder Ghir as Poly Verisof. Plus characters created for the show:
- Warlord of Kalgan: “A monster of a man, coiled with muscle and possessing powerful psychic abilities, and fueled by hate in his quest to take over the galaxy.”
- Brother Constant: “A cheerfully confident cleric whose job is to evangelize the Church of the Galactic Spirit across the Outer Reach. Constant is a true believer.”
- Warden Jaegger Fount: “The current Warden of Terminus and guardian of its citizens against external threats.”
- Enjoiner Rue: “The beautiful, politically savvy consigliere to Queen Sareth. A former courtesan to Cleon the 16th, Rue parlayed her status to become a royal counselor.”
- Queen Sareth: “Used to being underestimated, Sareth employs it to her advantage, charming her way into the Imperial Palace on a secret quest for revenge.”
- Tellem Bond: “Mysterious leader of the Mentallics.”
- Yanna Seldon: No bio provided – maybe a family member of Harry’s?
