‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ Gets Blasted for Latest PC Port Disaster
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor joins The Last of Us in the Bad Port Gang.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is officially out! 5 years after surviving his adventure for a secret Jedi Holocron, Cal Kestis is back to fight the Galactic Empire in search of a brand new home with his friends where he will be free from the Empire. Developed by Respawn, the game is a hit so far with critics who are praising the story and improvements to gameplay.
Unfortunately, some gamers are not too happy due to something developers seem to keep doing.
The Force is Not With the PC
Gamers and reviewers for the PC version of the game have been incredibly angry at Respawn and EA for a very poor version of the game. The game runs incredibly poorly, and the Denuvo DRM makes it even worse. Digital Foundry has been calling it the “The Worst Triple-A PC Port of 2023“. EA took to the EA Star Wars Twitter page to let them know they are aware of issues with the PC version:

The weird thing about the statement is that it seems to be blaming the bad performances on people’s setups. This is such a weird thing to do since many games have come out this year without even having anything close to these issues like the recent Dead Island 2. Fans have been quick to leave negative reviews all over the Steam page and Metacritic page for the game. Many are starting to question how they thought it was ok to release it in its current state:
I can confirm that Jedi Survivor is flat out the worst PC Port in history. This product shouldn’t be legal to sell. pic.twitter.com/a4RGgQIreQ

An Ongoing Issue
PC ports of games have been getting the short end of the stick for quite some time with Arkham Knight being one of the most famous examples. PC versions of Games like The Callisto Protocol, Forspoken, FF7 Remake, and Horizon Zero Dawn were full of issues that made playing them way harder than they were supposed to be. The latest example besides Jedi Survivor is the PC port of The Last of US Part 1. That game was covered in so many issues that in some settings, Joel and Ellie looked like their body hair was made of paper.
PC gamers are starting to feel left out of the development process more and more with these bad ports. PCs are supposed to be the most powerful machines to play video games on with being able to be upgraded and customized to keep up with the best in technology. One developer took to Twitter to actually blame PCs customization as the reason for bad ports for games:
When making a game for a console, you’re making it for one set of drivers/hardware. When making a game for PC you’re making it for like 900+ possible combinations.

People have been quick though to point out that games ported to the PC like Dead Island 2, God of War, and Spider-Man have had zero issues. You know when fans have to make their own patches and fixes after launch, you have done something seriously wrong.
Console Issues
The console versions are doing better than the PC except they also are running into frame rate issues. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions getting mostly negative reviews on Metacritic the same way the PC version is currently. I have been having a good time with the game on PS5 in Quality Mode since I don’t have the same hang-ups about FPS as some. This doesn’t mean it is acceptable to release a game with features not working as they are supposed to. The game has hit me with multiple frustrating bugs that almost got me stuck with some fans finding game-breaking bugs at different points of the game.
I have been loving the game from what I have played so far and do recommend the game if you liked the first one even a little bit. The game though has had a fairly disappointing launch and I cannot blame anyone for waiting first for the bugs and performance issues to be fixed first.
