‘Halo Infinite’ Season Four Brings Back Fan-Favorite Game Mode
Prepare to fight for your lives against the infected in Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite is the latest title in the long-running Halo series and it has been a strange time. It was loved in the beginning and then slowly lost favor with fans due to a lack of multiplayer content. 343 has been doing there best to release content despite internal issues earlier in the year.
The developers are hard at work on more and it seems an old fan favorite is coming back to give the players a shot of fun nostalgia.
INFECTION!
Infection is an incredibly beloved fan-favorite mode in Halo. One team is “survivors” with guns and needs to survive till the round ends to win. The other team is “zombies” and uses only melee weapons with the goal to kill all the survivors. Every time a survivor dies, they become a zombie till there are none left. It originally started as a fan mode in Halo 2 where players did it using the honor system. It eventually became an official mode and was one of the most beloved modes since.

343 announced that when Season 4 starts on June 20th, it will be bringing in an Infection playlist. The mode was leaked back in March and was supposedly supposed to come out on May 2nd. This must have been pushed back due to not being ready and making it coincide with a new season seems like a good move. The devs talked about more of what Season 4 promised as well in their newest Spartan Chatter.
Season 4 Chatter
The devs talked about the new season bringing some fan-requested things for the armors in the game as well as a new ranking system:
-
Beginning with Season 4, all new premium coatings (Premium Battle Pass and Shop) will include individual versions compatible with all armor cores.
-
Career Rank is also coming to Halo Infinite on June 20, giving players an all-new progression system with military-style ranks
-
343’s official Forge remake of the Halo 5 map “Plaza” is targeted to be released early in Season 4
-
Attendees of the upcoming HCS Dreamhack Dallas event will get a chance to go hands-on with new Season 4 content

Halo Infinite’s first Bonus XP Weekend will take place over June 2-4
The armor pieces now having individual versions compatible with all the armor cores is very exciting since it was upsetting how just one armor could have certain pieces. It made it very frustrating to unlock something only for it to clearly not work with the armor core you liked using. This was teased for quite some time and it is clear it just took time to implement correctly. The Career ranking system is also a nice addition to give people more of an incentive to play more often if they care about rank.
Everything else is ok with the remake of a Halo 5 stage and stuff for people attending an event in Dallas. This is all a tease though for Season 4, so more info should be coming out closer to its launch.
Halo Infinite is the reason I bought an Xbox Series X and it was a fun time in the beginning. Eventually, I also got fatigued by the lack of content and some stuff just not working. They have been trying to catch up on promised content as best they can and I appreciate it greatly since many of the devs are fans of the series as well. Halo Infinite is far from the death of the series and honestly is just a misstep in terms of what they wanted it to be.
Hopefully, 343 can bring the series back up to its former glory with each new piece of content.
