‘Hidden Strike’ – John Cena & Jackie Chan Team Up in High-Octane First Trailer
The long-awaited action-comedy starring Cena and Chan has a new name and a trailer. Check out the explosive first look at Hidden Strike!
In the not-so-distant future, a war for oil has taken over the Middle East. Cena and Chan play two ex-special forces soldiers tasked with escorting civilians along a road that runs through Baghdad that’s called the “Highway of Death.” The trailer reveals a road littered with destroyed vehicles, surrounded by abandoned structures, pipelines, and a desert. The pair have to deal with that and all sorts of baddies on their way from Green Zone to Green Zone. On this trip, they have to deal with a new bunch of mercs and thwart a group of terrorists trying to steal a bunch of black gold.
But, this isn’t just an apocalyptic action movie. Hidden Strike is an apocalyptic action movie with two awesome actors at the top of their game.
Hidden Strike (aka SNAFU: Situation Normal – All F***ed Up, aka Project X) has been in limbo for several years. It completed filming in 2018 and was set for a 2020 release. Then it was shelved for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. Star John Cena has mentioned it a few times, but there hasn’t been any marketing for it beyond the announcement. The movie wasn’t expected to be released at all before this action-filled trailer popped up.
Cena and Chan make the movie look like a fun time. Not big screen material, but a good weekend rental with some pizza and friends.
Hidden Strike Cast & Details
The movie stars John Cena, Jackie Chan, Pilou Asbæk (aka Euron Greyjoy), and Amadeus Serafini. Plus, a decent list of accomplished martial artists and stunt performers, including Zhenwei Wang and Lee Huang. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor, Need for Speed) is directed from a script by Arash Amel (A Private War).
No release date has been set, but the marketing machine has started, hopefully, it’ll be out this year.
