You don’t have to wait for fall to dive into horror – this summer has a ton of terrifying titles to offer.

 Influencer – Shudder Today

Influencer Maddison is not having a great time in Thailand despite what her social media channels say. When she meets CW, an enigmatic traveler who offers to take her to some exotic Instagram-worthy locations, things start looking up. The two get to talking about their different lives as they hit hot spots – the last of which is a surprise island off the grid.

The Wrath of Becky – Theaters Today

Sequel to the underground favorite Becky that turned the King of Queens into a ruthless criminal.

Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.

The Boogeyman – Theaters June 2nd

Stephen King’s The Boogeyman is a twist on the age-old folktale of the monster that hides under beds and in the closets of frightened children. The tale is about a man who is dogged by a vicious creature that attacks his family.

The film adaptation tells the story from a new perspective. It focuses on a pair of siblings still staggering after their mother’s tragic death. They find themselves haunted by a sadistic presence in their house and have to convince their grieving father to help before it’s too late.

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster – Theaters/Digital June 9th

Inspired by Mary Shelly’s gothic story, the movie follows a teenager that thinks death is a disease and it can be cured. After her brother is brutally murdered she embarks on a journey to bring him back to life.

The Blackening – Theaters June 16th

If you like satire and social commentary mixed with your horror, this looks like a must-see.

A group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game. The Blackening skewers genre tropes and poses the sardonic question: if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?

Insidious: The Red Door – Theaters July 7th

The story shifts to the Lambert family in the fifth installment of the franchise – we haven’t seen them since 2013’s Insidious: Chapter 2. Dalton and Josh chose to suppress their memories to try to stop them from astral projecting into The Further entirely. The Red Door takes place a decade later.

Dalton has to deal with his abilities as he leaves home for college, where he meets new people and starts having terrifying dreams after he attends an art class. It becomes clear that the suppression didn’t work, and The Further is creeping back into the Lamberts’ lives.

The Flood – Digital July 14th

Are you a Con Air fan looking for a monster movie? I’ve got you covered.

Talk to Me – Theaters July 28th

A group of friends discovers they can conjure spirits using an embalmed hand. They get hooked on the thrill of playing the game until one of them goes too far and releases terrifying supernatural forces.

Haunted Mansion – Theaters July 28th

Disney is giving the amusement park ride another shot at the big screen. The all-star cast ensemble cast included LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon, and Dan Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter – Theaters August 11

This is a little cheat on the theme, I know. Based on a single chapter of Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, the movie is set aboard the Russian schooner Demeter. We follow the doomed crew as they attempt to survive a mysterious and terrifying creature stalking the ship at night. The movie is directed by André Øvredal and stars David Dastmalchian, Javier Botet, and Aisling Franciosi.
