Marvel’s Midnight Suns is now complete – and adding one of Marvel’s heaviest-hitting heroes.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical RPG that uses a card system for battles set in the Marvel universe. Developed by Civilization V and XCOM Enemy Unknown studio Firaxis Games, the game was published by 2K and released in December. Hydra awakens an ancient evil, who wants to bring about the return of an Elder God name Cthon who wishes to rule the universe. The Avengers are ill-equipped to deal with this mystical enemy and have to turn to the Midnight Suns and the mysterious Hunter to save the world. It was one of my favorite games last year and still highly recommend it.

The game had a season pass that was advertised with 4 characters. Deadpool was the first to be added with “The Good, The Bad, and The Undead” back in January with Venom coming out in February in “Redemption.” The last DLC to come out was “The Hunger” with everyone’s favorite vampire, Morbius. Well, the developers have announced one last DLC with a special announcement for last-gen consoles.

A Storm is Brewing in Marvel’s Midnight Suns

The Omega Level Mutant and leader of the X-Men Storm comes to The Midnight Suns! Storm is on the lookout for a young mutant who disappeared and she suspects the vampires giving them trouble in the past DLC is the cause. “Blood Storm” will come with 10 unique cards for Storm, new story missions, and a brand new upgrade to the Abbey called the Enhanced T.H.R.E.A.T. Room. The Enhanced T.H.R.E.A.T. Room upgrades the once-a-day training hell room to now be customizable to face almost any foe in the game. All this content will be released on May 11th for all platforms.

Last-Gen Versions

Firaxis and 2K also announced in a blog post that the DLC was not the only thing releasing on May 11th. The PS4 and Xbox One versions will be released the same day, which will let anyone who buys the season pass or Legendary Edition access all 4 DLC right away. Unfortunately, the planned Nintendo Switch version was scrapped from release.

“We’re excited to announce that digital versions of Marvel’s Midnight Suns on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are scheduled to launch on Thursday, May 11…..Note that a Nintendo Switch version of Marvel’s Midnight Suns is no longer planned.”

There isn’t a reason as to why the Nintendo Switch version was scrapped, but with how it would run with some bugs and glitches on even the PS5 version, it would be safe to say it just wasn’t powerful enough to run the game and all the DLC. This is a pretty common argument against the Nintendo Switch since the hardware is consistently becoming more outdated as time goes on.  Many of the titles that came out last gen and this current gen are either Cloud-based like Guardians of the Galaxy or had to cut back considerably on detail like Mortal Kombat 11.

Whatever the reasons, I’m glad the game will finally be coming to PS4 and Xbox One for more people to play. It is just a shame the Nintendo Switch users are once again left out of something really fun.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is currently on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. PS4 and Xbox One versions out May 11th
