‘MEG 2: The Trench’ Trailer Proves Jason Statham vs. Giant Sharks is Always a Good Idea
Do you like sharks? Do you like constantly saying “what the f*ck” while watching a movie? You need to watch MEG 2: The Trench.
The MEG was a surprise hit back in 2018. It’s a Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, The Transporter, and Jurassic Park thrown in a blender. It has just the right amount of bad movie magic to make it fun. Haven’t seen it or want to watch it again? Hulu has it right now. It’s a stand-out entry in the huge pool of shark-centric horror movies.
The sequel has gone bigger – way bigger. A mining operation unleashes a new huge pre-historic creature under the waves, and it comes with friends that also enjoy humans as snacks. Since he survived the first giant killer fish, Jonas Taylor is called in to deal with all of the new threats. More monsters means more ridiculous action, characters making bad choices, and goofy/satisfying kills.
I can’t wait to see that jetski scene on a big screen. It’s going to be epic. And dumb. So dumb.
MEG 2: The Trench Cast & Details
Ben Wheatley directs The Trench, which stars Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sienna Guillory, Cliff Curtis, Skyler Samuels, Page Kennedy, Shuya Sophia Cai, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. The first movie is based on Steve Alten‘s Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, and the sequel is based on the second book in that series: The Trench. There are five more books in the series. Yep.
Dive into uncharted waters and join a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission. It forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.
MEG 2: The Trench is only in theaters on August 4.
