‘Street Fighter VI’: Capcom’s Most Ambitious Chapter Officially Announces Open Beta
Capcom is opening Street Fighter VI for beta play – all before the game’s highly-anticipated release date.
Street Fighter VI was officially announced in February 2022 after being teased with Luke releasing in Street Fighter V with the promise he would be important later. Capcom has released many sequels and spin-offs for the series, but they all were prequels to Street Fighter 3.
This made it so that nothing felt different for the characters in both story and gameplay since Bison just wouldn’t go down. This left characters like Ryu and Chun-Li in a constant state of getting some new things, but never that different from Street Fighter 3. Street Fighter V put Bison down for good, finally ending that storyline.
Street Fighter VI has been shaping up to be the most ambitious Street Fighter game ever made. The game has a brand new roster and Capcom has been eager to show off the World Tour Mode and more. Soon players all over the world will get their chance to play a slice of it before release.
Street Fighter VI Open Beta Dates
Street Fighter VI has had a couple of closed betas that players had to sign up for and hoped to be chosen. It was a huge success with everyone saying it was unlike anything they ever thought Street Fighter could be. Well if you were unable to get into the Closed Beta, Capcom announced on their Street Fighter Twitter page that the same experience would be open to everyone from May 19th to the 21st.

This specific beta is centered around the Battle Hub, which is where players can fight people from around the world! The Open Beta will give players access to 8 characters from the current 18-character roster:
- Ryu
- Guile
- Ken
- Chun-Li
- Juri
- Luke
- Jamie
- Kimberly
This is all very exciting, especially for people who have been dying to play it again without breaking any rules. Capcom had recently reported they noticed people were playing the closed beta outside of the designated period and that this violated their Terms of Service.
Casual fans were not given any ultimatums for doing this. Tournament players though are warned they will become ineligible for any of the tournaments held by Capcom if caught. This makes sense because the upcoming tournaments have a million-dollar payout for those who win and they rather everyone have equal time with the game before release.

Other Ways to Play Before Beta
The wait for the game is a month away and the Open Beta is 10 days away, but you just can’t wait! Well currently the Street Fighter VI demo is currently out and can be played for as long as you want. Unlike the Open Beta, the demo is designed to give players more of a slice of the World Tour Mode. This doesn’t mean you can’t still play a bit of the main game with the demo. It only lets people use between Luke and Ryu for Vs mode and character guides.
This is a good way to get familiar with control schemes the game will offer between Classic, Modern, and Dynamic. The controls are designed to be welcoming to players of all skill levels, so here is your chance to understand each one and the new Drive System Moves specifically for Street Fighter VI.
Street Fighter VI is one of my most anticipated games of the year! Street Fighter V was an incredible letdown with how little content it released at full price and was impossible to play due to server issues. Capcom has made sure to avoid this as much as possible this time around and it shows in everything they show off. I personally won’t use any mode outside of classic mode since it is what I am used to. I am glad though fighting games have evolved to let anyone play them more and more since Marvel vs Capcom 3. Now if we could only get Dan Hibiki again.
Street Fighter VI will be out on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on June 2nd
