It is never wrong to be curious, and this Grand Admiral Thrawn cosplay will keep you guessing!
We’re taking it back to the Imperium today with our Star Wars feature. With the upcoming Ahsoka series on the horizon, fans and newbies alike are scrambling to answer the question–WHO is Grand Admiral Thrawn?
Thrawn comes from the Chiss race and is a leader of the Imperial Military. Tall and imposing, his blue skin and hair are a bright swath of color in contrast to the drab Imperial uniforms. This cosplay is all about makeup and contouring, and our cosplayer Holden Aces pulls it off impressively!
501st Legion member Holden Aces has been a long-time fan of the Star Wars series and allowed us to share some of his experiences.
Star Wars has always been a huge part of my life, and I wanted to find a way to pay that positivity forward and have fun doing it. Cosplay with the 501st Legion was just the natural progression of that: Bad guys doing good. Ever since I was introduced to Grand Admiral Thrawn in the old TIE Fighter game (1994), I found him fascinating. He’s not like other Imperials, or traditional villains for that matter.

None of this would be possible without the help of my partner Ashe, @widgetocosplay, as she is my makeup artist and her mother is my seamstress (not on social media). I help out where I can, but their skills far surpass mine. I help with some of the art direction, but the magic is all them!

The response from fans of all ages to this character never fails to bring me joy in return and has prompted many fascinating conversations. Having Timothy Zahn himself smile and take photos with us at Celebration is one of my fondest memories. I love bringing this character to life for myself and other fans!
