Warhammer 40K Meta Hotness: Chaos Daemons Flesh Hounds

Flesh Hounds of Khorne are another bit of Secret Daemon 490K Meta Hotness out there during these last heydays of 9th edition. Here’s why.

Chaos Daemons is one of the most go-wide armies we have in 40K right now.  You have so many Fast Attack and Elite Options that hit that special place of being a lot tougher than you expect them to be.  They have decent stats, a save that never goes away, and more wounds than you expect them to.  On top of that, they usually hit harder than you expect them to. Which is why the angriest dogs of them all are actually a very interesting choice in the current environment we are swimming in for the next few weeks.

Flesh Hounds Powerful Stats

Flesh Hounds of Khorne are a close combat oriented beast for the Chaos Daemons army.  On top of having a decent amount of attacks, they are fairly tough as well.  Their strength is above average, an average toughness, 2 wounds, and the ability to go to a 4+ daemon save in close combat mean they are a threat to deal with.  Also, having a 12” movement is a big boon to. They can quickly cover the table, utilize their bigger bases, and ability to “Kool-aid” man thru walls like the beasts they are.

Close Combat Damage

These little doggies each come crashing in with 3 attacks (4 for the Gore Hound) that hit on a 3+ with a Strength of 5.  Heck Flesh Hounds even get an extra rule of gaining an extra point of damage if they charge into you.  This is huge as they can easily chew thru some Marines with Armor of Contempt going away.

Flesh Hounds are Anti Psychic!

Oh, and with their Collars of Khorne each unit even gets a Deny attempt for Psychic powers.  This is great, as it gives Daemons some extra rolls to go against Psychic powers that might hurt you. Or it can give an opponent a nice bit of Victory Points if doing Warp Ritual or Interrogation.  Then on top of all of that, they get access to a stratagem that gives you a 4+ to try and deny things after you try your own basic Deny attempt.

Under Pressure!

This unit is another great example of a pressure unit in the current game of 40K.  They are fast enough to keep things locked in, do enough damage to have people worry about them, and as they are core they get access to any Aura support you can have.  Oh – and the unit is cheap for 5 of them, sitting at 75 points, so they are a great edition to add to your army and help let you Warp Reality to the foul gods of Chaos.

Jack Tite won a nice 42 player event over in England this past weekend while Warhammer Fest raged.  He did it with a neat Disciples of Be’lakor army that utilized so many fast gribblies to help control the board and grind the win out from all the other shooting armies of death.

All Will Burn for Khorne!

Flesh Hounds are a nice little addition to an army that has a ton of other neat options.  There are so many fat little units for each of the Chaos gods you can easily use to gum up the table.  Between cheap little Flesh Hounds, Fiends of Slaanesh, Screams of Tzeentch, and even Beasts of Nurgle, you have a ton of options to wreck the tabletop.

Whose a good puppy for Khorne? YOU ARE!
