Abigail Thorn Joins Cast of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’
The upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte just cast Abigail Thorn. But who is this new character and what part will they play in the galaxy?
The Acolyte is one of the Star Wars franchise’s most mysterious upcoming projects. While we all have a pretty good idea of exactly who’s going to be in Ahsoka and are excited to see some of those characters make a return, The Acolyte is completely new waters.
It doesn’t even take place in a time on the galactic calendar many fans are terribly familiar with. But The Acolyte just got a little more mysterious when it added the latest character that we know nothing about in Abigail Thorn’s Ensign Eurus.
CHECK IT OUT: Everything We Know About The Acolyte So Far
Abigail Thorn & Ensign Eurus
You may not be familiar with Abigail Thorn’s work; she only has a few acting credits to her name. The British actress is mostly known for her presence on the internet and her YouTube channel, Philosophy Tube. According to United Agents, Thorn joined the cast of The Acolyte as the brand new character, Ensign Eurus.
At this point, nothing more than a name is known about Ensign Eurus. But as an Ensign, it’s likely that she’ll be playing a High Republic officer. At this point in the galaxy’s history, the Jedi are almost exclusively respected members of the republic and often assisted by or assisting Republic officials. So we’re probably looking at a pro-Jedi sort of character. Previous synopses of the show have described official investigations and galactic crimes, so Ensign Eurus may be assisting in the investigation… or covering them up.
Thorn is also the first trans actor to be cast in a Star Wars project. Whether this correlates directly with her character is unknown.
The Acolyte
The media tour for The Acolyte is far from beginning, and that makes sense since the show isn’t supposed to hit our screens until next year. So, sadly, not too much is known about this series just yet.
We know that aside from Abigail Thorn the cast consists of Amandla Stenberg in the leading role, Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Games), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
We have also seen a very short official synopsis that describes the show as:
“A mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.” – StarWars.Com
At this time, the Star Wars media machine is busy promoting the next series to come to Disney+, Ahsoka. It’s impossible to say when we can expect to see more concrete information on The Acolyte or even when we can start hoping for a trailer. But I know I’ll be excited to see more about this show.
