Sailor Moon Cosmos part one premieres in just a few days. And we just got a final trailer and some key casting information.

The finale to the Sailor Moon Crystal saga is right around the corner with the two-part Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos movies. And it looks like we got the final trailer, a look at some of the new characters, and the rest of the cast list.

Sailor Moon Cosmos

Previously known as the “Shadow Galactica” arc in Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga and the “Sailor Moon Stars” arc in the original 1990’s anime, Sailor Moon Cosmos will follow the last act in the Sailor Senshi story.

The entire Japanese voice cast of Sailor Moon Crystal is confirmed to return for Sailor Moon Cosmos. Additionally, Tomoya Takahashi (Kill la Kill) is directing both films and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Sailor Moon Eternal) is writing the scripts. Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail, Naruto, and Sailor Moon Eternal) is back to compose the film’s music. Perhaps most exciting, Kazuko Tadano, character designer for the original 90s version will be the lead character designer for Sailor Moon Cosmos.

In addition to the returning cast the Sailor Starlights were previously announced to be voiced by Saori Hayami (Taiki / Sailor Star Maker), Marina Inoue (Seiya / Sailor Star Fighter), and Ayane Sakura (Yaten / Sailor Star Healer). But there have been some more casting announcements since then.

These include:

Sena Koizumi as Sailor Iron Mouse
Ayumu Murase as Sailor Aluminum Siren
Yōko Hikasa as Sailor Lead Crow
Mariya Ise as Sailor Tin Nyanko
Haruka Kudō as Sailor Heavy Metal Papillion
Shiori Mikami as Sailor Lethe
Kanae Itō as Sailor Mnemosyne
Fumie Mizusawa as Sailor Phi
Yuka Komatsu as Sailor Chi

But those are all relatively minor characters compared to Nana Mizuki playing Princess Kakyu, Megumi Hayashibara as Sailor Galaxia, and Kotono Mitsuishi as Chibi Bhibi. Mitsuishi not only plays Usagi / Sailor Moon but is also reprising her role as Chibi Chibi from the original anime.

Sailor Moon Stars

Sailor Moon Stars follows Usagi as she enters high school and begins to transition into adult life. Mamo-chan “goes to the US to attend medical school” and three pop stars start attending Usagi’s school. Of course, all of these things are connected to each other and the fate of the entire galaxy. This final arc wraps up Sailor Moon’s place in the cosmos and shows her who she is destined to be. A number of new characters are intruded in his arc. Including the new mysterious senshi, the Sailor Stars, Chibi Chibi, a little girl who can only seem to say her name, and the arc’s main antagonist, Sailor Galaxia.

We expect Sailor Moon Cosmos will feature by and large the same story. But with less of the filler that the ’90s series was known for. So far Sailor Moon Crystal has shown us more faithful adaptations of Takeuchi’s original manga.  And that’s what we’re looking forward to in these films.

The first part of Sailor Moon Cosmos will premiere on June 9th with the second part releasing on June 30th. That’s right, Usagi’s birthday.

Are you excited about Sailor Moon Cosmos? If you’re familiar, which of the new characters is your favorite? How have you been like Sailor Moon Crystal’s take on the classic series? Let us know in the comments!

Ja ne, adventurers!
