New Trailers for ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, ‘One Piece’, More Revealed During TUDUM 2023
Netflix dropped trailers for both anime live-adaptations – plus new looks at Rebel Moon, Lupin, Squid Game S2, and more. Check it out!
The Witcher S3 – June 29th
Heart of Stone – August 11th
Agent Rachel Stone is the only intelligence operative who stands between her global, peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset, codenamed: The Heart. Starring Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, Matthias Schweighöfer.
One Piece – August 31st
The first look at the live-action adaptation of the most popular manga in history has finally arrived. It’s written by Eiichiro Oda.
Lupin Part 3 – October 5th
The series is inspired by the adventures of Arséne Lupin created by Maurice Leblanc. In it gentleman thief Assane Diop sets out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family. Things don’t go quite as he planned.
The first two parts are available on Netflix now. I’ve really enjoyed the story so far – Omar Sy is fantastic in this role–and I’m looking forward to Part Three.
All the Light We Cannot See – November 2nd
Based on the Pulitzer Prize and Carnegie Medal-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. It tells two parallel stories during WWII – of a young French woman who is part of the underground fight against the Nazis and a member of the Nazi Youth that’s assigned to track the resistance she’s a part of.
Rebel Moon – December 22nd
This clip gives a behind-the-scenes look at Zach Snyder’s sci-fi epic.
Rebel Moon‘s story focuses on a tyrant’s invasion of a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy – a regent named Balisarius has deployed his army to take over. The colony sends a young woman with a mysterious past to recruit warriors from nearby planets in order to fight back and reclaim their home.
Money Heist: Berlin – December 2023
A new heist is about to go down. This chapter stars Michelle Jenner as Keila, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña as Roi, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
3 Body Problem – January 2024
Based on Cixin Liu’s Hugo Award-winning novel. It’s going to be interesting how this adaptation plays outs; it’s a book that feels un-filmable. This is the first project from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss since they signed a deal with Netflix in 2019.
Set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion.
Avatar: The Last Airbender – TBA 2024
The beloved universe is getting another shot at live-action – this time as a series and without M. Night Shyamalan. Along with a teaser, they released new images of several characters.
Squid Game S2 – TBA
Season One is on Netflix now. The story focuses on a group of people invited to play games from their childhood in order to win $38.5 million. Sounds simple enough. But there’s a huge catch: not everyone will live. All participants are in crippling debt to various agencies, businesses, and gangsters. They’ve got everything and nothing to lose. It’s a classic survival-of-the-fittest game. And the show is all about what this bunch of characters is willing to do to win – and to get out alive.
Take a look at who is returning for Season Two, and the players joining the new game.
The World of Archies – TBA
The series from Zoya Akhtar stars Aditi Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda.
Cobra Kai S6 – TBA
This behind-the-scenes clip shows the cast having fun during a pre-production table read. Netflix was not able to share footage of the show because production has been paused since early May on the last season of the show.
Wednesday S2 – TBA
Wednesday is another show on pause due to the writer’s strike. In lieu of any behind-the-scenes production footage, the cast talks about what they think will happen in Season Two and drop some teasers. It’s been confirmed by Ortega that this season won’t include a new romance for the lead character–but it will be more focused on horror.
